Need help badly from Melbourne area

Hey guy just having a bit of a cash problem being a single unemployed full time dad my am chain tensioner needs replacing.I have the part shipped from Germany. But I took it to an audi mechanic who wants to charge $500 which I don't have! Lol so if someone can atleast help me or tell me what to do or something? I'm sick of the grinding noise it makes car looks mint but the noise sounds like a old camira! HELP
