key fob will not unlock

Hi, my key fob will not unlock the car, it will lock it and open the boot ok but when locking the you can hear the miscro switch click but nothing happens, Ive tried resync but didnt work. Is there any way of testing the fob or is it a case of buyinga new one and seeing if a new one works.

Try removing the c/l fuse I think it's number 14 , for five minutes, that used to cure the same problem I had with my GTI.

but a lillte update just had mechanic clear historic fault codes and now the fob will not work at all
