What's that cable in your storage tray?

Don't waste your money on after market parts.
Get the genuine aux, I think it's about £22+vat from Audi.
Mine came with the car but it's an easy mod and it just plugs straight in.
Have a look at my picture, please excuse the mess! My car needs a good valet.

connects2 is NOT a waste of money... I understand some people's apprehensions about aftermarket when it comes to audio but I have a connects2 unit, had it about 2 years now and I cant fault it

I wouldn't buy the connects2 kit though, why pay more money for something that you will have to hide and find a place to put the lead and the genuine parts aren't expensive so you can retrofit the kit that is designed to work with the Audi system.
As you can see there are different options out there for you to choose from mate

Scott the thing with the oem aux kit is you need to put hands on the media source to change the tracks pause play etc and that if the police see you is 3points and a fine for using a handheld electronic device. The connects2 kit is controllable from the stereo ( and possibly the steering wheel?) Also it charges the device at same time and you can plug your device in and leave out of sight in the globe box or wherever.
i personnaly used to stick the ipod classic 160gb ipod on shuffle and skip through the 20000 tracks. Rarely would i put an album on and not skip tracks so having a legal way to do that is essential.

what's so bad about finding somewhere to put the unit anyway? some people run it into the glovebox, some people run it down the back of the climate control into the cubby underneath, like I have
