How much oil?

does anyone know how many litres on average I will need to do an oil change on my s3???
And also has anyone tried any of the bg products ?engine flush?oil additive etc?

should be just short of 5 ltrs with filter. and i wouldn't use engine flush herd of some horror stories , oil additive not needed if you use a good quality oil
 
O really I have heard good things about flushing the engine?i have only ever put castrol fst init but done 66k now and who knows what has been used before,full Audi history so hopefully been all good
 
your better off just changing the oil more often (its cheap enough), i change mine every 4,000 miles runs a lot smoother. yeah over the top but its something ive always done, you will no more when you change it, and fit a magnetic sump plug.
 
Normally put my car in the garage for everything but I'd happily change the oil if it can easily be done at home with no special tools etc I'd do the filter every couple thousand too

Mine had always had Castrol Edge,changed every 5000 or so miles,and swapped over to Motul 300V now.

Audi's long service interval thing is bad news I think....the first service on mine was on that schedule and the oil looked really nasty when it came out.

Yeah I think I might have to get myself a set of ramps,never really done anything with car engines always had nice cars but garage done the work, I was into 2 strokes so my youth was spent with a dremmel porting and polishing then lots of swearing at carbs ;)
 
I think 1l bottles of 5w30 edge are circa £6.50 on amazon just now.

Worth checking, it's on hotuk deals.

Just grabbed 5 bottles ,isn't the 300v meant for motorbikes ?Although expect your motor revs higher than standard ?
 
Don't say I'm not good to you guys. With a 1.3ml per mile oil consumption, I like to buy cheap oil........

A litre in 750 miles last time.

Varies by up to 15% depending on drive cycle/idle time.

Bye bye cat converter. Still, think how long my exhaust will last with all that lovely oil coating it.

No.
They do produce a lot of motorcycle oils but also race oils etc for cars.
 
Yeah I just had a look it has a bike on the front thought they use to be Yamaha sponsor before they use yamalube,fair play cos that aint cheap to be changing every 4k might give it a blast after this edge is done
