Hi all,

Just thought I'd introduce myself. Now I think I've followed the rules with regards to forum posts but I do apologise if I missed any or have made any mistakes.

Have been wanting an Audi for years, even before I learnt to drive. This is my second car but my first Audi! It is an absolute beast compared to my old 1.6 Mazda. It's an '05 Audi A3 2.0T Quattro and I picked her up with 44000 miles on the clock. Interior is in pretty good nick and I think it spent most of its life till now in London. Now she isn't in perfect condition. As some of the pictures show, there is a fair amount of bodywork scratches all over. There's also a strangely placed dent on the passenger door, under the wing mirror.

The engine seems to run fine as well, I've had to change cylinder 1 coil pack recently due to it going bust. I want to get the engine checked out by a specialist for all the usual suspects this engine suffers from over time.

Once I feel comfortable that she's a good runner, I want to modify her a little. Facelifted tail lights, S3 or S-line bumpers, 18" wheels and a slight lowering to close the gap. I'm a practical person though so not too much! :p Long term, I'd love to get her resprayed in an Audi blue but that is a stretch. Also considering a full front end facelift conversion but understand that its complicated and expensive.

This car is not something I'm looking to resell for the highest price at a later date or anything. At least, that is my mindset at the moment. I just want to make her my own. So any advice or suggestions would be great! Also relating to the aesthetics and mods, if there are any recommendations for garages or services within the Bedfordshire area or as close to, that would be great!

Thanks guys, looking forward to being more active on the forums here :)

That's a nice car, low mileage for age too, I suggest you go for an 8p2 facelift as this is less complex than the 8p3 facelift I've done it myself so be sure to check out my thread. Just incase you don't know the 8p2 is the single grill version from late 2005-2008 and the 8p3 is from late 2008-2013. I suggest you go for the my11 rear lights as you say as they really do update the rear but it'd kinda make your car look like it's reversing back through time IMO as rear will look modern but front will look dated. I see you also have a double din dash so you can easily put in an RNSE unit which will make the inside a nicer place to be in considering you'll be in the car most of the time. Btw the RNSE unit is a sat nav unit. Also consider getting a remap, if you think your car is fast now, certain places claim to get 280bhp out of a single remap on the 2.0tfsi. Got more suggestions should you want them and oh yeah welcome to the forum

Very nice looking car, as audileon says, the 8p2 conversion is very easy to do (also done this to my 2004 a3) just a case of bumper and bonnet, look out for the bumper with the same shape fog grills as you can use your original fog lights, you'll still need new grills though (they look the same but are just different enough not to fit

Orange225 is right, the grills are deceitful but I learnt the hard way, I forced the fog grills in and can't get them back out (ever) oh well will do the 8p3 conversion once I crash my car ;)

Thanks for input guys! As much I would love to do the 8P3 conversion, doesn't sound like it'd be worth it! 8P2 conversion is on the long term cards but I will address the most convenient things first. Lights, lowering, wheels...all after I get that damn dent out!

Will be addressing the good people on the rimz thread soon to find out more on some wheels I'm eyeing up. Would love to see some new style RS6 alloys on them but the 19" versions. Sacrifice a little comfort for some style ;) Initial googling doesn't look too promising though and genuine rims look hard to come by on the bay!

Anyway, cheers guys!

A couple more little tasteful mods are led bulbs, footwell lights, illuminated door handles and ambient lighting, if you don't already have them, a4 flip cigarette lighter,

Your welcome. I kindly ask that you avoid one thing though. Please do not sacrifice the 8p2 facelift for matte black paint on the bumper between the top and bottom grill. I see a lot of people who have done this around my area sitting on their high horse believing everybody thinks it's a single grill. It's not, it's just not. One of my pet hates among many others. All just an opinion though

I have seen that and don't think that's my style either AudiLeon96. TT air vents are a good shout actually. Would be interesting to see whether, in time, we'll get a modular version of the mk3 TT air vents. Those are wicked!

spotted one today, almost threw up, I get some people like it but it's a pet hate of mine and what are modular air vents. (I should use the search bar more ;D)

These ones!

By modular, I mean they'll slot right into older models of VW/Audi. Would look absolutely awesome retrofitted into the A3 but I imagine they're a bit more complicated than that!

Those air vents in the pic are from the latest 2015 tt which are the same as the a3 8v ones
