Hi,
Looking at possible brake upgrade options after i get my Sachs clutch fitted in a couple of weeks, now ideally i would like the TTRS setup but i would also like to keep the original facelift wheels so this is not really an option.

Been looking at this kit but can't find any reviews on it, anyone tried these ?

Car will not be for tracking just fast road use.

Rick

Been in the exact same position as you for about a month mate. Im very picky so still havnt chosen anything! From what Ive read the TTRS Brake kit will fit on with the facelift wheels with an 11mm spacer.

Those brakes seem good value for money! Wonder what the downside is! Do they fit under the standard facelift wheels do you know?

I'm using a kit from AKS, comprising of TTS discs, calliper mounting brackets, and lines. These fit under my standard wheels with a 10mm spacer.

Jus looking here forge do a matched rear kit as well, for their front kit. I really like that. Really couldnt be ***** with this, discs from here, calipers from there, whole mismatch carry on. An dont like the whole having Porsche brakes on an Audi thing either, looks stupid IMO but thats just me.

From my searches AP seem to be the dogs diddly bits but with a price that you need to sit down for! Same with Brembo!

I have TTRS calipers with AP racing discs and bells which was slightly more expensive than the forge setup. I was in the LVS golf on Friday which had the forge kit on it and they seemed good and I'm sure you'll be happy with the kit either way .

Just out of interest did you go for the AP discs because of the reported warping of the TTRS discs? And what are bells? I have heard that term before but unsure of what it is. Thanks.

Bells or bellhousing are the mounts that the discs are fitted to,before being bolted to the hubs.

The Forge kit isn't cheap, and if I was buying again,I'd be looking at the full AP kit, which wasn't available when I bought, and so I now have a hybrid AP/VWRacing setup, but I know from prior experience how good the AP kits are.

That Forge rear kit does look interesting though.

Why TTS discs mate? Would they not just be the same (or same spec) as the s3?

Because that's what the carrier brackets are designed to work with. They're 340mm, compared to the 345mm standard discs (either work) but seeing as I needed new discs anyway, and these are cheaper than the 345s, that's why.

They say they fit under 18"+ so i would assume so.

Yea was there yesterday booking in for a clutch and was looking at the these brakes fitted to that golf.

That was one of the reasons yes as I do track days. The other reason was because they are slightly smaller I thought as I already had spacers I could keep my stock wheels. They did fit but it was still too tight and a stone dug a groove in my alloy at 70 which was flipping scary! The AP discs are expensive but they look awesome and perform well

Are the AKS bracket and lines also compatible with the original S3 245mm rotors also?

As I can currently get a cheap pair or RS rotors and would like to keep the stock rotors for the time being. Plus am already running 10mm spacers on the front

I would imagine so. There's only a 5mm diameter difference, which is only 2.5mm more of the disc in the calliper. I' mpretty sure they work with both.

Ah right are you coming to the Blyton Park track day?
I have something on that weekend so can't make it, think i will dropping in on the 31st tho for the open day.

Well guys, if your interested I`m sure I could arrange something for our open day.. :)

I`ll gladly take anyone out in our Golf with the Forge setup on, value for money these are brilliant.. Even with the Yellow stuff pads they work very well.. I do however change the pads for track work to DS1.1s

These fetch 300-350 easy on ebay.. I sold mine for 300 which was a little cheap BUT I did get a good deal from Forge to have them on my car ;););););)
