Hi, 1997 Audi A4 1.8t Sport AEB engine ..Is there a full list of parts needed for a Timing Belt renewal ...everything needed Belts, Water Pump, Thermostat,Gaskets, Fluids the whole shooting match nothing missed out when it's all stripped down "oh no forgot the" don't want that to happen...

If there is not a list can you guy's please contribute one so I have everything...

Much appreciated ...

The water pump and thermostat are external to the timing belt on these, so its not critical to do it all like it is on some engines. However its probably a good idea to save you taking it all apart again.

Timing belt kit (CT919K4 i think, might be different on an early engine)
Waterpump
Thermostat
Waterpump drive belt
Auxiliary belt
5L of Longlife Red coolant concentrate.

Those are the main things i can think of.

1x Engine Timing Belt
1x Belt Tensioner
1x Belt Roller
1x Accessory Drive Belt
1x Serpentine Drive Belt
3x Engine Camshaft Seal
1x Engine Intermediate Shaft O-Ring
1x Water Pump
1x Power Steering Belt
1x Coolant Thermostat
5l x Long-Life Red Coolant

Found this list I know you get some of it with the Timing Belt Kit Can we Eliminate the ones in the Kit and what do you think of the others on the list...

And is that all the belts on the Engine in the list as I want to replace all of them at the same time...

Personally i wouldnt bother doing the O-Rings/Cam seals. Everything else is already in my list.

How many belts are there if I'm replacing them all (Looks like there are 3 in total)....plus where can I obtain a good Timing belt kit from or do you think main dealer would be best..

Water Pump probably the original with the plastic impeller so that would be worth doing would main dealer be best for the pump do you think..

3 x belts.
You can go genuine or use Gates or Contitech belts. They are good quality items.
As for the waterpump, I've only ever used genuine. I'm sure there are some good quality aftermarket parts though out there.

The ones you have quoted here are just for belts are they not I thought the Timing belt kits were the ones....I have heard many times on here Trusted Kits mentioned and where they get them from just cannot remember till now when I come to need to know..

Don't bother risking a non-genuine PAS belt: I bought a Gates one and test-fitted it and it just hung loosely between the pulleys and wouldn't have been any use at all. This despite the length and dimensions being spot on.

It all came down to the number and shape of the teeth in the "vee". The teeth on the OEM belt are shaped in such a way as that the two-part pulley on the water pump grabs them in exactly the right way. Strange but true.

Right got all the bits ordered from Jason at All German....Full Timing Belt Kit and ordered the Damper plus the 3 Aux Belts,Water Pump. Thermostat ..

Question is it really necessary also to replace the AC Tensioner and the Alternator Tensioner...also do you get the Relay Roller in the Kit...

The timing belt kit should come with all the rollers.

As for the tensioners, you need to weigh it up. They DO fail, and if they do your going to have to take it all apart again to get into them. So your weighing up the hassle of going back in, vs the cost of the parts. If the stuff is all well worn out, its probably worth just doing it.
