What have you done to your 8V today?

Not today gladly as it's blowing a gale but managed a 3 hour cleaning marathon yesterday. Basic wash including engine bay/under bonnet clean, exterior seal feed, exhaust tips polished, tyres dressed and Gyeon cure detailer. Also enabled rear DRLs in VCDS.

Rear DRLs.......?

Spent an hour removing marks on the rear bumper by in laws dragging suitcases over it :(

Removing my sealant but all the marks are gone so now layering the sealant back up.

I'll be doing suitcase duty from now on ....

What do you use to feed the seals? (Had to laugh as I typed that)

Yeah thought I'd give them a try it just keeps rear sidelights on all of the time but no number plate illumination in a similar way to the front DRLs.
They'll turn pink being on all the time...... lol

Sardines lol !! No straight up its Swissvax Seal Feed I use it on the exterior flip seals around the tops of the doors and around the rear quarter glass it keeps them supple and a black matt colour.

Thanks! I noticed mine didn't look great when I picked the car up so I'll order some ASAP

lol reminds me of a mate a few years back. He went with his wife, young son, father and mother in law to the park for a walk. As they were just about to drive out of the car park the father in law said "Oh hang on I need something out of the boot", he got out got what he needed and then got back in. Just as my mate was driving under the metal barrier across the car park entrance, the boot opened up and smacked the metal barrier!!! (he hadn't shut it properly!) My mate got out along with the father in law and saw scuffs and a big dent in the boot, he bit his lip and tried to stay calm and composed :) The father in law then turned around and said "It's OK that will polish out with a bit of brasso" :D My mate said he felt like killing him lol.

We still take the P now when someone spots a chip or dent on their car "It's OK, a bit of brasso will get that out" :p

I feel for him, I put a tiny scratch on the boot of my 2.0 TDI when the I let go of the bot and it hit the roof of a euro tunnel train a couple of years ago and it still makes me wince now!!!!

Decided to deal with various marks caused by passengers over the holiday period. Taped off the B pillars and other gloss piano black trim. Decontaminated with dilute IPA, DA polish with my fav pro detailer polish, DA over front bar and sills (scuff marks) and decontaminate wheels and wheel arches. Full wash using my usual process with 6 MF wash mitts, dry with MF WWDT's. Reapplied my fav pro detailer sealant (have 6 layers on the car now) to entire car with a second layer on areas that got a remedial polish. Glass coated inside and out. Interior vacuumed and leather wiped down with my fav pro detailer leather conditioner designed for pu coated leather. Tyres deep cleaned and left bare as I hate tyre dressing. Rims all coated with sealant. Engine bay wiped down and seals all treated. Car tucked away for the night. Relaxing with a glass of Zubrowka on ice looking out over the lake.

Lucky I just woke up or I'd be worn out just reading that amount of work! Sounds like a good day for the car, and a great day for the mind. I errr, pay £10 every two weeks to get water and bubbles thrown at my A3. Maybe the S3 will change me lol

I thought detailing was for old ladies making patterns until a pub a few years ago when a young lad was showing me pics of some cars he'd intensivly cleaned. Only time I'd seen anything that shiny before was trying to wipe........leaving it there :whistle2:

I have a little research to do. Told the Mrs about a detail a fellow member (laughing in my own childish head at the word 'member' after my previous comment) and how it was £400 quid but looked amazing. Her face said I'd just told her I was going into the garden to pick up tonight's dinner from the grass where the dog had just finished!!!

And I quote "£400 quid to clean a new car?!?!? Your more mental than I thought!!"

Nasty mate :(

Hard to tell from the pic, but looks a like a scrape to the wheel arch and the rest will maybe polish out?

slight dent to the crease on the wing; and its taken the paint off the bumper.
it'll get sorted down at KDS in gillingham... just a pain to sort it thats all

w*****s, I feel for you mate :( It's one thing doing it yourself, but when you come back to it!!! Where was it done, are there any CCTV cameras outside a shop etc.?

I waited in a car park last year to tell a guy that a car had hit him and then driven off, he looked over the car and said "No damage". I left my number and later in the day he called me to thank me for the heads up. He had gone inside the shop and they had caught it on CCTV :) He said "You were right, he didn't half hit it". It turned out he had done damage under the wing which was then making a grinding noise, he informed the police and they went after the guy for leaving the scene of an accident :)

Feel for you mate..Hope you get it sorted soon.I'm a strong believer in 'Karma'
Something just as nice :slapped: will happen to them...

Well, as usual, detail the car and it rains, for half an hour and then blue skies, just enough rain to flick street crud over the car :)

Some numbskull magpie must have decided the B pillars were too shiny and he didn't like his reflection so attacked the drivers side one. Enough scratches to have to do it over again, some time.

Will need to get my car reapplied with Gtechniq after sorting the paintwork too so another trip to the detailers.
