I've ordered the badger5 3" tip for my s3 before the remap, r-tech claim it can add around 20bhp with a cai. I'm guessing a pipercross panel filter isn't going to give me the same gains as a cai is it?

Is a heatshield necessary?

Cold air intakes aren't hugely necessary on a turbo car as the turbocharger will be heating up the air A LOT regardless of what temperature it goes in at. A decent intercooler is more important.

A cone filter will allow more air to pass through than a panel filter. I gained a little bit with pod filter with my 80mm TIP.

Headshield, not necessary, that being said I do have one for the time being as it holds my pod in place (legal requirement that they are secured here in Australia).

Spoke to Bill, he says the JR cone flows 5-7bhp more. Not sure if that's just with a remap but I'm getting one anyway.

I'm assuming the oem air feed to the airbox is enough, I'm also need a breather filter I'm guessing

Get yourself an S2000 filter from ECP. Nice and cheap and proven to give impressive flow and gains over a panel filter.

it was on a remap yes.
