A4 b6 temp gauge not working

Hi I have an a4 b6 3.0L
The coolant temp gauge wasn't working (going up and down randomly)
I replaced the coolant temp sensor which fixed the problem only for 1 day.
Now when I turn the ignition on the needle stays down and shakes:



I used a cheap ebay temp sensor, has it stopped working? Or is it the thermostat or instrument cluster?

Replace with a genuine sensor. Cheap ones are useless and been known to fail.
