What have you done to your A4 b6 today?

Cool , I can imagine some would be dubious about Supermarket oil and finding producer is favourable .
Like finding out the author of a remap file .

Ever heard of

I avoid their petrol, only run V power, so i am always a little dubious. I have used their fully synthetic oils years back with no issue. As long as meets correct specs, strictly speaking it should be fine. I know some manufacturers add their own additives (maybe like KFC with their recipe lol). But they also hold your wallet to ransom.

With me doing regular changes, i dont really want to pay for longlife oil if makes sense. The newer oils for longer service intervals is all fine, but my oil will still be changed every 3k ish. So i am not sure what extra value i would get, the v8 has just turned 110k, previous oil was at 107k. I will be honest, i do research things to death sometimes, end up burning my head out. As you can find too much info. Now that oil i have in right now, they do a 229.5 which is for long life. But at 3k intervals, is it really important? I can buy 10L of 229.3 for a little under £45. The 229.5 comes in 4L tubs, so the cost jumps to £90 for 12L(buying 2x 1L at £9.99 + 2x £30 would still cost £90 ).

Not heard of blackstone, no, a quick looks shows they test oil samples/ analysis.

Good to know cheers, will check out next week and see what flavours are suitable for mine. Is the VW spec 502/505 not important then? As long as 229.5 , 5/40 I still want. I know oils have obviously improved since 16+yrs back, does this make the 502/504 pretty much redundant .

504.00 is the highest VW spec but a 5W30 .

Higher than 229.5 5W40 .

Some manufacturer specs can be thought of as a minimum quantity if there is something better .

Hard wired a dash cam today, my other mio cam went with the touareg. Little research and dont want to spend £300, found the road angel halo go good enough for my need. Bonus of parking mode which i wanted.

Used a MM to check fuses which are constant, UK i used No 38 which is central comfort elec. Took 15a fuse out, put in holder with fuse in, fitted in place. Needed to fit the earth behind the 16mm nut for decent ground.

Not got a clue , there are many that look similar in shape . Wanted to stay away from cheap Chinese eBay specials. I had an issue with connecting after changing password(prompts to do this ). But then does not tell you to then use new password. Had to log out and start over with new password. I spoke within a minute online chat, to then be directed to ring up. I called the number, an English guy helped me through until I figured the password part. So impressed with the customer service and being actually in this country.
Quality is good, especially at night. Much better than the mio I had previous. 1080p, park mode, easy to use app........once figured the password part lol. Impressed so far

So how much was it then ?

It's not 1440P ?

When I say rebranded it was DDpai who made the original 4 years ago .

Just over £70 for the camera, micro USB and plug. Got it from the camera shop, then decided to hard wire , that was £21 for the roadangel kit off Amazon.

Yes correct , little copy/ paste about

With intelligent Battery Performance Monitoring, the Halo Hard Wiring kits use very little power when in Parking Mode so you can be sure your battery will never run flat, however in the event the vehicle is parked without being started over a number of weeks, the Halo Hard Wiring kits will measure the battery levels and should the battery power start falling, the Halo Hard Wiring kit will turn off the Halo Dash Cam for you.

Righty, again camera and moved to better position behind mirror. Found a way to get behind trim and force cable in the very tight gap!!! I did pop out the centre lights to look for a live feed, but could only find 5v.......would need to cut and join cable and my crimps are at work anyway.

Gala module just after the ultrasonic sensors, these are the ultra sonic sensors x2 with a 3rd on a cable which plugs in .

I now get a few soft beeps with ignition, will test out later when drive work(oh the fun!). See if it stops changing volume . Its not as much of an issue if up loud of course, but lower volumes and a miltek none resonated exhaust, exaggerates the issue 10 fold!! Thats with it apparently turned off. Well the ****** is unplugged and removed, so will see later.

Just nipped out to test, what ever it is i have taken out (looks like a type of mic)works 100%. Volume low, regardless of noise or speed, volume stays where i set it. Fantastic!!!

They usually have a cut off voltage point , what's yours ?

100% that's a rebranded DDpai mini2 exept without the mini2's 1440P the mini has 1080P .

The one to have is the mini2P as it has 1440P + extra lenses for a distortionless image as wide angle lenses bend the image , needless to say the distance looks far away with wide angle .

Found the Road Angel version of the mini2P .

Quite a premium slapped on , lol .

The hardwire kit is a fail because it cuts off at 11.6V and that's too low .

Battery state of charge

Well hopefully it won’t be a problem as it will never be left weeks without use. I have a battery pack stashed away in case of a flat battery anyway. I am sure mine is h265 like my air 2 drone. As it told me when loaded the app and connected 1st time.
Yes quite a premium! Maybe the Uk customer service is part of the premium. That part impressed me(takes a lot these days ) with quick response and taking to someone UK based within minutes.

On that sensor of types (or what ever that unit is as could not find the part ). After driving 20 miles, the volume never budged with various speed and noise. So very happy with that result, wish I would have done earlier ! .

Cheers

How do you get on with no screen to view? How do you position it and aim the lens?

How do you get on with no screen to view? How do you position it and aim the lens?

A lot better than first thought. My previous cameras all had screens and found myself always checking it. So in a way a bit of a distraction more than anything . Once you down load the app(road angel halo in my case) , you connect via WiFi . Add camera and that’s pretty much it. Your then looking via phone as the screen. You connect as soon as you get in the vehicle , but unless you open the app, you won’t see the screen/view.
Earlier I checked out of interest , it’s pretty cool. I have footage of me going to work! and back .In 10s vids(can change that to). The footage was very clear , smooth on replay. It’s noticeably much better than my previous cameras(nextbase and mio ). I am very impressed for a little over £70 . 1080p is ample for viewing on a phone to, no need for 2k or 4K which eats memory .

Setting the camera , basically it rotates in the holder . So when connected to phone app, you can simply rotate (slight resistance/notches) to get where you want. Job done! Can’t fault it for quality and user user friendliness .
I will add, if you do change the password, make sure you log back in with it, it won’t prompt to do so. What will happen is it will keep telling you it can not connect.

Also it does communicate when in vehicle , tells you it’s on etc or going into standby(mine is set to 15m). So any issues like of old cameras freezing, you would know still without the screen.

Memory consumption is more to do with the frame rate , normal 25f/s or 1 f/s with the time lapse .

12hrs of normal 25 f/s gobbles 50.30 GB

24 hrs of time lapse 1 f/s gobbles 8.84 GB

Image quality is everything , 1440P , trust me , the You Tube videos are there to see .

Halo Go 1080P Vs Halo Pro 1440P aka and original product mini Vs mini2 .

I know all about image quality, my dji drone is 4k 60, 4k 30,2k,1080. Choice of h264 and h265, i dont have anything powerful enough to edit 4k 60 h265!
1080 is more than adequate . The footage is nice and clean, even in low light compared to my older camera. I will not be posting videos on youtube.

1080 is eating gb's!!! Not that it matters too much on my v30 sandisk as it over writes, as with most /all cameras.

I have time lapse set for parking mode.

You can always get better, honestly i dont care, if i wanted 2k or 4k i would have bought it........maybe 8k soon, i dont need it nor want to pay a premium for it. My mac is not 4k, nor my air, only the TV.

Shame you could of had 1440P and the distortionless image from the actual manufacturer for less than £58.

20201103 081300

I paid a little over £70 and have no distortion . In fact I am super impressed by the video quality.

Put up a still to show the quality .

No sorry , yours has 4 layer optics and is not advertised as distortionless and will have distortion , that's why the higher cameras have 6 layer and are advertised as distortionless .
Halo drive box 1

It’s fine for my needs and looks fine on screen and is not distorted when I watched some videos back. So that is all I need to know, cheers

No it's better than ven's as 1440P and has 6 lenses adding up to distortionless image .

These two are the same .

Little 10's vid from other day coming back from work. I honestly dont get what all the fuss is over, its actually putting me off posting in the future. I post to update, maybe some bits may help others. Not a contest on best camera this or not. Can have this for £ cheaper. I deliberately bought UK, it was with me within 2 days. I spoke to a UK person when i had an issue with password. If it fails i have a UK address to send it to. I just wanted a simple camera, no frills with parking mode..................Each to their own, if i want i can go and buy a better camera , but i dont want to. I am happy with the quality, if there is slight distortion at edges, so what, i dont care. It still shows a perfectly fine video for in case i may need it. Thats all its for, not to have 2k or 4k or 8k film footage.

I dont understand why you want a still, will have to down load one, i dont care for stills. I just need footage incase of an accident. Anything up with the video? I was expecting this is *beep*, thats warped, quality is *beep*. Is it not up to your standard? its a dash cam which i almost did not even bother fitting. I dont understand so much interest in a cheap camera thats not trying to be anything, just a low end road angel camera(yes low end , not even mid range). You post a video please and show me this big difference

Here a random still
RQ6LbqRl.jpg

Yes the sign on left has slight warp, in the bin it goes then

Right so what am i looking at, this big difference. My still is at around 60mph, yours is stopped at a set of lights? Sorry but right now i am more impressed with my still.

Please share a vid clip so i can see this big difference. If its so BIG i will buy one, sit it up front and use this one as my rear camera. Cheers

How about dark footage, please upload a dark clip, this is after 5am, night time or when ever is good. Just to see how it is. Cheers....
I am going to get a rear cam, obv no headlights, so if better in dark, that will swing it for a rear camera.

looks good enough to me Ven

Thank you cobra for a positive post. Thats all i actually need, just good enough. As long as it serves its purpose which for me personally it does. I dont plan on uploading tube vids or anything like that, but it probably is good enough to do so. Just a cheap 1/2 decent camera with park mode. There is cheaper, there are far more expensive, better no doubt. But for £70 ish, i am happy with it and think good value myself. Its also a known brand to me, with uk customer support, than in itself is worth the premium(for me anyway).

Cheers.

i have a 4k system in my Van and its absolute ball ache dealing with the files.

which i had to do when some moron tried to insurance fraud by reversing into me at lights when i had handbrake fully on (Electric)

took ages to get file small enough for Police and insurance to deal with as both still run dinosaur hardware.

as long as the plate is clearly readable no worries.

Damn, sorry to hear. Yes i found that out with my dji air 2. Can still use 4k 60, just cant play it or edit it without uploading to youtube. Nice to have, but really no need for me . I use 1080 or 2k for ease.

I have spent more in the past on camera's, they have not been as good quality as this. Of course over time they improve, whats good today is almost old hat a few months later.

Point taken , do you have a similar still ?
