What have you done to your A4 b6 today?

See I'm having droaning sounds coming through every time the wheel turn to the right at motorways speeds is or even at say 30mph seems more louder at the wheel is turned more. The drone sounds seems to fade in and out soon as the wheel straigtens it either lessens or turn left goes away. Don't know if it a wheel bearing or some kinds of control arm. looked underneath and nothing seems out of place, wheel bearings have no play at and on turning wheel can hear anything, maybe noise coming only when under loads i.e. speed of weight???

Mechanic has said keeps driving until a fault becomes more pronounced as other wise I would just throwing parts at it.

I have noticed that I hear like a rubbing noise inside cabin when turning the wheel slowly, sure if its like a some kind of control arms making that noise.

Any ideas?

Totally sounds like a wheel bearing to me. I need to do the third one in a less than 2 years of ownwership on mine, quality is obviously sh*te. Long fast bends are where I hear mine most, if it complains more when turning left then it will be a problem on the right hand side and vice versa. I felt very slight vibration through steering wheel with front, through the seat with the rear, but can be hard to tell.

Adjusted the lights, damn they just move every 10k km's!

Haha yeh would be an expensive thing to smash up. Air ride is on the cards just house comes before the car atm :D Not by my decision may i add!

And yes I did have a video on youtube but the go pro didnt pick up the deep tone very well atal so will do another one at some point and post it up.

Anyway gave it a clean today and hoon about in the nice weather.

Of course 'the house' comes before the car. Well speak for yourself anyway :playful: haha

Yeah that's true, some videos just don't capture what the tone of the exhaust sounds like. Nonetheless, look forward to it.

Hi Mikem

I'm looking into retro fitting a ski hatch. Do you know what parts you need?

Also how difficult is it to remove that piece of metal out?

One of the best practice mods I have done to the car.

Metal saw blade on jigsaw and took minutes to take it out once the back seat and trim both sides are removed.

My ski hatch comes from an A6 C5 but ordered an A4 interior trim panel to finish off properly, but the A6 version is perfectly usable.....my OCD LOL.

No part numbers but they are expensive from dealer/TPS at about £170 last I looked......got mine from a local car breakers

:blownose: full service & mot £250 lighter in the wallet on the plus side new wipers new drop links and a new gaitor going back in for full timing kit and aux belt in next couple of days :sob:

Order all the engine covers today. Gonna get the engine cleaned and tidied up.

Hopefully I've used the right part numbers!

Next up r8 oil and coolant cap!

Could possibly be a dry or worn CV joint?

I've fitted 2 new wings and put an extra cup holder in place of the card holder and esp switch. Who ever designed the cup holders for them must not of had any mates

Was gonna say you need your aircon re gassed Matty but with the temp up at 28 it must be freezing where you are!

The weather isnt to bad up here it was a bit cold yesterday but I just had a little race so turned the heaters up and windows down haha

Went away the back end of last week, so left the car at my local garage for the following;

Cambelt kit
Waterpump
New auxiliary drive belt
Antifreeze
Full brake bleed
New power steering fluid

I supplied all the parts, £300 labour, thought that was a good price!

Clocked into 200k last week :(

Realised the brake pad clip has fell out when I changed pads and getting a rattle I believe is from it not being in, easy fix though since I've found it.

Should really do a gearbox and brake fluid change and check
cv joints but it will have to wait

And it needs a wash since its been about 8-10 weeks without one !!

Looking super mate! Would like to hear a sound bite of this if you ever had the time. Im going 3' Downpipe De-cat, no middle resonator and slim back boxes. Heard some pretty awesome 1.8ts with a similar set up.

Kinda excited your going the hybrid turbo route. Are you going to keep the internals stock?

Dan.

Here is a small video of the exhaust (Y) Yes sticking with stock internals as im not going for mega power just a nice solid safe 230ish is the aim which from reading up is perfectly doable :)

Got it back from paint shop and removed old interior , just go to find a decent carpet and then new interior back in.

Interested to see what the new carpet will look like. Will it be a OEM type replacement or something a little different? :smile new:

OEM looking at pics it looks like all a4, b6,s have the same carpet regardless of model can someone confirm this please.

Dan, can you list the part numbers for the covers if they are correct?

as requested: part numbers are as follows:

PLenum chamber: 8e2 819 477 01c
Battery cover:8e2 819 422 a 01c
Air con cover(left): 8e0 103 928 b
Water bottle, power steering cover(right): 8e0 103 927 d 01c

Had to modify right hand cover a slight bit. there is a tab at the back i had to cut off, and also cut a section for my coolant pipe to go through. other than that they all "clip in".

Also fitted an R8 oil cap, which had been modified to sit on the 1.8t engine up the right way!

Replaced the sticky pads that hold the rear number plate on, went with 6mm ones so it sits nicely off the boot lid, a small touch but I like it.

Clay bar and waxed it, thought I'd done a bad job after I'd finished but realised the trees in our street give off a fine mist of sap constantly, so you get little bumps as soon as you've waxed! Worth it for protection anyway, means it'll rinse off rather than embed in the paint.

How do I do it?

Thanks for sharing...this is SO much better than i expected. Love the little rumble it produces. It also sounds cleaner as a result of the custom exhaust.

Good choice for aiming for that kind of power (bhp)

Im going to opt for a custom made straight- through exhaust but not stupid loud. 3'' de-cat downpipe and then remap. With our Ko3s turbos, that should get 220bhp or less. If I feel this is still a bit lacking I'll go the hybrid turbo route. Ive heard great things from Beach Buggy Turbos.

APPARENTLY, we can get 260 bhp circa from stock internals with a hybrid set up. Basically bolt-on with a few little mods like; TIP etc.

:yahoo:

Just had a new screen fitted after month's with cracks creeping across. Like having a new car lol

Dropped off some of these:

And these:
IMG 1511

at a garage to get them fitted and balanced. Also bought some genuine centre caps to replace those cheap ones and some genuine Audi wheel nut covers to hide the scruffy bolt heads.

Now I just need the opportunity to fit them, the new rear brake discs and pads, the complete LED interior kit and the Cupra R splitter which are all sitting in my spare room. Oh to have the time and be able to drive the car.

I also got to see my toes for the first time since surgery two weeks ago:

Pins come out next week, but I'm still not allowed to drive for another month
