I had my engine rebuilt by Audi back in November at no cost to myself. I asked them to check the rinsing belt/tensioner as I'd heard off this forum they might fail.
The guy rang me and said they'd checked it and it looked ok but there was a new variant of in use now. The Audi garage had been completely honest with me so had no reason to disbelieve him so went ahead with a new one being fitted (unfortunately this was at my own cost £200). Way I looked at it was I'm getting an engine rebuild at approx £5k for free so £200 was a small price to pay for piece of mind!
The garage said Audi UK wouldn't cover the cost of the timing chain under the oil consumption issue and I wasn't in the mood to push it as I say they'd been very good with me about the whole thing.
