If you only want the UK maps you can do it via the built in SIM (takes about 30 minutes and does it over several journeys) - go to MMI settings then online update!

Got the update message but said something about data allowance, pressed ok but not sure if it’s done anything, haven’t driven it since.
Did you get any confirmation that it’s finished?

There's an icon bottom left whilst it's updating, next to the phone signal strengths, with a little progress bar. If it was there but has now gone, its updated

What's the current version named?

Any ideas when the next update is due? The MyAudi website says they issue updates every six months, so is another update due soon?

I think mine is due an update but not really worth doing it now if another update is due shortly.
