Hi all,
Does any one u’ve any idea ma what the following problem is:
My S3 Epc light came on as car went into limp mode! I made it to an Audi specialist garage, and found that cylinder 1 had a loss of pressure. Garage have taken the head of and said it’s looks as if the cylinder has ha d a foreign object in it and completely ruined it. So they advised I need a new engine. Found a new engine, the garage installed it today and again, miss firing in cylinder 1....I have no idea what’s going on can any one shed any light in this please

Foreign object in the cylinder sounds like a load of rubbish. A likely scenario is that the injector isnt working properly and the misfires are pre-ignition / detonation due to that cylinder running lean, and they have killed the piston. If they just swapped injectors over then the original problem still exists. Likely: new injector. The garage need to try swapping parts over with cylinder 2 to see if moving them over also moves the misfires to number 2 (injectors, coil pack, spark plug). If the problem still persists on cylinder 1 after that then its either an ECU or wiring loom problem. Your car would have needed a new engine regardless but if they don't get to the bottom of the misfires then they will eventually kill that one too.
