2011 8P S3 Differential Whine

hi all,

Recently my rear differential has started to whine a little so obviously an issue with the bearings or something along them lines. Can anyone recommend a course of action as I don’t fancy forking out nearly 4K for a new diff!

Has anyone ever gone to a diff refurb company or anything similar? I could buy off eBay but I genuinely wouldn’t trust a second hand diff off their. Any help would be appreciated!

Mine went on my 2011 8pS3 last year at 50k miles, i went for a new one at £3k +vat.
I did send the old one off to a dif specialist but they sent it back saying its partly riveted together and not designed to be stripped. Now if a top guy couldn't recondition mine who is doing the reconditioned ones on ebay...lol
Like you i could see little point in putting someone elses whining dif on what other wise was an excellent car so just bite the bullet and get one with a warranty and forget about it.
No one ever said owning an audi was cheap
