2008 2.0TDI or 1.9 TDI ?

I would like to change my old B6 for a 2008 B7 Avant.

i fancy a 2.0 TDI S Line but the oil pump thing scares me..

would it be best to buy a 1.9 TDI or get a late 2008 and get the conversion done.

i will be looking for something with low mileage.

2.0 TDi would be more powerful and quiter, 1.9 TDi would be cheaper to fix and louder.

I'd opt for an earlier 1.9tdi (pd130) or later 2.0tdi (b8+) personally... and then I would change a load of stuff to make them even more reliable and less MOT friendly... but I'm biased

Get a 2.0 TDI with the modified pump

I was in the same position when looking for a B7. 1.9 TDi is not as powerful, tractor like but reliable. 2.0 TDi is more powerful and refined but the risk of oil pump drive failure.

One month after buying my 2.0 TDi 170 BRD the oil pump drive failed. New modified oil pump drive and turbo fitted. I was realistic and knew that there was a chance of this happening so I wasn't surprised.

One week after I bought mine this was week after week first was turbo then glow plugs then glow plugs again because the light was still on then a clutch and to finish it off a glow plug wiring loom and it still shows the open circuit code
