2003 Audi 8p power steering rack help needed

Hello and thank you to anyone who can help.
Ok so basically I have the very common problem of the red steering like coming up after use of my car and then switching it off and then bam after turning it back on in a few moments red steering light.

i am very sure it is the rack and not the steering module as the rack creaks

what I need to know is if I get the rack reconditioned does the motor have to also be reconditioned to solve the problem as I have found a place that said they can just do the rack for £130

Any help is appreciated!

i have the 8p a3 which is electric power steering, so there is no fluid to check.
