2003 A4 Brakes

Hi all

Not sure if anyone can help but I am trying to order some non-gen front brake pads for my 2003 A4 Avant TDI. Most places are saying that that age car could be fitted with 2 different types of brake system, either a Lucas or TSS.

I have phoned the dealer and using the chassis number they say the part number needed is 1LZ but they dod not know which system is fitted.

Does anyone know which system this part number fits or where I should be looking on the car to find out which it has?

Hi,
I have just changed the pads on mine, 2002 A4 TDI 130. Put EBC greenstuff pads on. Part number DP21483.

Never heard of TSS, I'm quite sure the calipers are made by ATE. The discs are 288mm in diameter.

You must use copper grease or anti-squeal pads on the backs and clean the calipers, otherwise they squeal like pigs. Now after 1000 miles, they quiet and stop the car, very, very well.

Pads cost me £55
