So my A3 2.0L TDI quattro (170 PS) has the engine management light on constantly and the glowplug light is occasionally flashing. I took it for diagnostics at Kwik-fit (the only people who could see me at the time) and it gave two codes. P2080 P0544 According to what I was told therse relate to sensor banks on the EGR valve. Also some reading onthe net shows this to be a problem with some VW Jettas. A few questions if you please... Anyone else had this problem? Can I just have the sensors replaced or does the whole EGR valve need replacing? What causes these failures? any idea on how much it should cost? (Kwik-Fit are quoting £254.14, D-tech in Sudbury wouldn't quote over the phone and I am too scared to get a quote from Audi
I think you have EGT issues not EGR. Could also be DPF related if u have a DPF, would recomend scanning with VCDS and checking soot levels in the DPF at the same time. You will get a lot more info about the fault with VCDS than quick fit have told you.
Know anyone in Bury St Edmunds who will do that? Yeah, I know but I needed to have it checked ASAP as I didn't know what the problem was. Yep, EGT may be where the problem is alright. See this thread. This is why I need more info on EGT vs EGR. The guy at Kwik-Fit said that the EGR would need replacing, hence my question earlier. Incidentally, the guy at Kwik-fit didn't fill me with confidence as they need to call in a 'specialist' to do this work but I don't want them ordering a part I don't need only for that not to fix the problem Anyone else got any thoughts?
