I had my car (2009 a3 quattro) in at audi for a service the other day and when they did their thorough check one of the things they said was wrong was the EGR valve. It has only done 50k miles! I have had the engine light coming on and off for the last couple of months but a different garage recommended that I waited until it stays on more than it is off, which seems to be about now... Anyway, instead of paying audi the 600-odd quid they quoted I wondered about taking it off and cleaning it first?
They also said there is an oil leak to do with the EGR and I'm sure I read somewhere that if this is the case it is better to replace it?
I'm a total noob but have seen a couple of videos like

and it doesn't look too hard, and this topic seems fairly helpful

So if I have a go, is it just a case of removing it like in the video? I won't need have any computer stuff done afterwards?
Sorry if these are stupid questions, but as I said - noob! Thanks in advance!

You could always consider and EGR delete kit from the likes of Darkside Developments. Perhaps do a remap whilst you're at it and they will throw in the EGR software delete for free.
