2.0tdi 150bhp 2012 different compared to 2013?

I’m buying a secondhand DTUK CRD+3 from a 2012 car. From support chat, the guy claims it’s a different ECU software on the same engine 63 plate car. Can anyone confirm that is true or they just want me to pay £120 to reprogram the box.
