Driving along nicely doing a steady 70 mph on the motorway this morning and suddenly the steering goes heavy and the battery light is illuminated, cars still running and no funny noises so I pull off at the next junction. Pop the bonnet for a peek and see the aux belt snapped. Turn everything electical off and limp the car home.

Went and got a new belt and upon fitting it have noticed the a/c compressor pulley is seized solid. The same compressor which has covered less than 10k. Anyway I'll sort that issue later.

What I need to know is if anyone knows of a shorter belt that would fit so I can temporary bypass the a/c so I can use the car.

The mrs is 38 weeks pregnant and I'm kind of relying on the car the next week or so and with Christmas round the corner I'm not going to have the time or effort to to get it stripped and sorted.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm like a donkey on the edge!!!!

Only thing I can think is to tie a piece of string around everything bar the aircon pulley so you know what length you need?

I was thinking of that. Needs sorting tomorrow
