Hi all.

Thought it might be worth starting a centralised thread for us all to share real-road experiences with the various tyre options available to us. I am looking for a new set at the moment and would find this info useful, as I'm sure would others.

  • Vehicle model (BHP/2WD/4WD etc): Audi A3, 8p2, 2.0 TFSI, S Tronic (2007). Bone Stock 200HP
  • Tyres fitted (brand/size etc): Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric A2: 225/45 R17 Y 91
  • Supplier & price per tyre: Black Circles, £106 per tyre fitted
  • Wet grip: 9/10
  • Dry grip: 8/10
  • Road noise: 8/10
  • Driving style: Sedate mostly but spirited once a month or so
  • Miles covered/wear: 8,000 miles so far (mixed urban and extra urban) and are 4.6mm on the front and 5.2 mm on the back.
  • Any other info: 32 PSi front and 30 PSi rear / harder for ESP light to come on with these tyres compared with previous Conti 5 tyres.

Tyres fitted (brand/size etc): 235/40/18's Goodyear Eagle F1's Asymmetric A2's

Supplier & price per tyre: £230-250

Wet grip: 8/10

Dry grip: 9/10

Road noise: 9/10

Driving style: relaxed 98% of the time

Miles covered/wear: almost 10k 2mm front 5mm rears.

Any other info: excellent tyre in the snow also! never span the wheels or slid out once this year.
 
Should be a sticky perhaps for easy reference, these threads occur regularly
 
Goodyear F1's are £70 a tyre for 225/45/17 on tyreleader.co.uk btw
