Hey guys

Rear caliper has seized again and now time for a new one - put this off for a while by freeing it up every few months.

I have changed pads and disks before but never the caliper. Anyone have any tips or info for how to do this. Not sure whether the new one will need bleeding when I reconnect the brake line? Will this leak everywhere when I disconnect it? Do i need to buy some brake fluid aswell?

thanks

I dont know specific tools you will need. But they arent that hard to change.

You will have to bleed it yes, and clamp off the flexi so you dont loose too much fluid.
I think they are wind back on the rear (just from reading?) So you may need a tool for that too, but if its new, they are normally wound fully back already.

Basically clamp the flexi, crack off the flexi union, remove caliper bolts, remove flexi, remove caliper, fit new (with new washers pref) once fitted, crack off bleed nipple, let off clamp, and bleed through.

Sure someone else will know exact size tools you will need.

^^ this. Although it is recommended in the Haynes to renew caliper bolts on the back. It doesn't mention it for the front. I'm sure you will get these in a new caliper anyways. Winding tool is only like £20 if its needed. I got a universal jobby does all cars with right hand thread :)

Brilliant, thanks for the info guys. New one is on its way so going to give it a go this week.
