170 PD Injector Horror Stories

Hi there here is the email I recieved. My car is booked in for monday, I rang the 0800 number & Audi UK instructed my dealer to sort it. Good luck!!

Dear Mr Maunder,

The information we have from VAG is that both the 140 and170bhp models are affected by the issue.

If you are not receiving any assistance or informationfrom the dealer, I would suggest that you contact VAG Customer Service on0800699888 and ask for Victoria Carter or Isabelle Lindley. If this doesn't work, then try the number Isupplied in my original email.

Yours sincerely

Andrew Tudor

Hi my car is a 2007 56 reg 170 s-line on 120k miles ad not had a issue would I still ne able to get them all changed FOC ?

Cheers Chris

Hi, yes is the answer to your question! If your car falls into the category which it seems it does, contact Audi UK & air your worries & tell them you wish to get them changed, or at least check them to see if they are in fact the dodgy 1's. Don't take no for an answer! In saying that Audi UK have been very forthcoming.
Good luck!

I have a UK A3 sportback 2.0 TDI 170 DSG exported to Ireland and thanks to this forum I found out about before purchase, Audi don't want to know(only 2 year warranty here) but Audi UK have been incredibly helpful.

Once I email them the injector parts numbers next week they are going to organize all of them and the loom to be changed in the North of Ireland which is only 90 minutes away!

Result!

Hi there all, my car went back into Audi today as they did not check the injector part no's they just checked to c if they were working & they billed me £107.40 for the free diagnosis.
I checked the car in with the same guy today, but he was adement that they're working & I cant have my refund because nothings for free! :banghead: I phoned Audi UK again & told them of my dealings with my local dealer & they phoned the dealer & laid down the law! :angrymod:Am waiting now to get my car back & my money! You have to be persistent, but Audi UK have been awesome & very supportive.
Well done Audi UK!:respekt:

Just an update on my injectors,

Audi UK have been amazing, Kieron from Customer Services rang me this morning just to check how things are going as I am waiting on Audi North Dublin to get the DSG oil and filter and then they are going to check the injector numbers and once i have them Audi UK will organise their replacement in Northern Ireland.

Couldn't ask for a better service from Audi UK to be honest especially when you consider Audi Ireland don't even want to know and only think of replacing them when they fail!

Hi there Ryso, just an update on my case. Audi UK have now backtracked & are NOT refunding my money as my car is seen not to be 1 of the dodgy 1's.
Yet Audi UK told Swansea Audi to check my injectors for free!:wtf: Why if Audi in Swansea performed the incorrect check on my car last week & not checked the injectors, should I have to pay?? Audi UK are now siding with Audi in Swansea!:sob: I even had the actual email sent to me by VOSA saying that the check are free & they just ignored it!!!!
We all need to make a stand!

happened to my m8 this two breakdowns one where his was stuck on m1 and audi denied all knowledge cost him a fortune at a garage needless to say car is for sale and he say he will never buy another audi it does look real bad on them

My car is running perfectly. However, in view of the concern here I contacted Audi customer care. They confirmed my car as potentially affected and asked me to take it to my local dealer. The result being all 4 injectors and the loom were changed at Audi's expense with no quibbles and smiles on their faces.

I'd just like to warn people on this forum that the Audi injector inspection is not neccessarily free. I've had a mare trying to get my £107.40 back off Audi, because they performed the wrong inspection 1st time & charged me, yet the proper inspection was done foc. Audi r telling me in no certain terms will I be reimbursed for the botched 1st checkup. They told me the payment I made for the wrong inspection will carry over to the correct inspection.:wtf::sign_unfair:. Audi are moving the goalposts & it ain't right!!!

If your car is inspected & you don't have the faulty injectors, you are liable for the hours labour & diagnosis fee!
Maybe the gas chamber too!
Wot a bunch of b******s! They ripped me right off!!!! They may win this battle.... but we won the war!

Do you know what part numbers the diag returned? was it just a batch number fo rthe faulty injector of four individual numbers for each injector?

thanks

Well since june i had happy motoring until last week when my car lost power then cut out leaving me in a dangerous place in the road.

Then this morning the glow plug light was flashing for the whole journey to work but has gone off now.

I contacted Audi UK who were well aware of the issue and had no problem in opening a case for me, i have to book my car in for a diagnostics check even though i have VAGcom but thats no issue i will scan it myself first as he said if it is found not to be the injectors there is a charge for the diagnostics so i have been well informed and warned of the potential cost should it not be the injectors.

Mine falls with in the likely candidates for the injector issue so fingers crossed, i will scan it this evening for faults.

I look forward to hearing your results as I've to the same but I thinkit will cheaper to use a VAGcom, any tips on how to find the injector numbers?

Trouble is Paul is that even though you can or will scan it with Vagcom Audi UK have an internal procedure so they have to scan it in house and follow the procedure which i can agree with.

My plan is to scan it first and note what it comes up as i hope it scans injector fault (fingers crossed)

As i dont mind having audi scan it if i know what it will come up with but i dont want to waste 107 bucks when i could give them the answer myself with my own software which from what i can gather is more powerful than there software lol!

My car was imported to Ireland a year ago and Audi Ireland "aren't interested" in the problem!!

Audi Uk have been great in fairness and have arranged the injectors and loom to be changed in Northern Ireland which is only 90 minutes away. All I need to get the work authorised is the get the injector numbers for them to check if they are part of the faulty batch(90% are)

Hence would you know if the VAGcom can actuall call up the four injector part numbers or just find an injector fault code?

thanks

Well here is the scan i have just carried out, im none the wiser really but it has found a fault?

Any help from the guys in the know would be mega handy!

  • Check/Repair Wiring from/to Intake Manifold Runner Control
  • Check/Replace Intake Manifold Runner Control
[h=4]Special Notes[/h]
  • When found in Engine: 2.0l TFSI, perform Basic Setting.
    • Check TSB 01-08-12 or 2018402 (NAR) North American Region vehicles only.
      • Check Engine Control Module Software Version, if necessary perform Update.
      • Replace Intake Manifold Runner (V157) with updated part.
      • Additional information may be found by searching RVU 24M2 / O3 (Exp. date November 30, 2011) or calling the VW dealer and checking the VIN.

can't see injector part number like 03G130073MX in there anywhere does anyone know where it might appear on a scan?

The part number wont come up on the scan mate it doesnt scan part numbers.

Im going to get a mechanic friend to check on the injector for me to find out what part number i have and then get him to check the internal paper work to see if it is the injectors that will require to be replaced.

Audi UK have told me that when the car is in this week to have it's DSG oil and filter changed they should scan it to see if it has the faulty injectors.

Are they able to see more with their scan? or are they just looking for a fault code?

I would think they would just be looking for a fault code, as far as i know the vagcom that we all have is a more capable program that what VAG garages have.

Im still lothed to book mine in :)

Hi,

New member as I'm leaving BMW after 15 years.....long story....

So is a 2008 plate B8 3.0 TDi 240BHP affected in this injector saga.

It looks like no!!

regards.....

Audi UK confirmed that the injector part number is part of the faulty batch and are organising their replacement in Belfast and will refund the €107 inspection fee.

Top result from Audi Uk in fairness

Hi guys, I have to jump in here.
When my car went in for the injector checkup, they did do an electronic diagnosis on my car. They came up with my EGR is at fault & my injectors are working fine. :wtf: I told the guy there I didn't want a diagnosis, I wanted the injector ser no's checked & the injector loom inspected. They billed my for the diagnosis I didn't ask for,+ it was also wrong, my flywheel is knackered & was causing my judder.T***s!
I was furious, I contacted VOSA & they put a bit of preassure on Audi, Audi then booked my car in again, took the rocker cover off & inspected the injector part numbers & inspected the loom. I wasn't charged for this as it's supposed to be FOC anyway.
I am in a battle now to get my money back for the service I didn't require nor asked for.
Beware, VOSA have told me that the 140 & the 170 engines were affected. Today they told me only the 170's are affected.
Well thanx a f*****g bunch VOSA you just cost me £107.40!!!!:applaus:
