Hello there fellow Asn members, yet another beautiful Saturday morning in Sheffield it is... If you were a duck that is! Anyway onto topic.

So if I'm coasting down a long hill say in 4th or 5th I get blue smoke chucked out of the exhaust when I ease back on the throttle at the bottom. Could somebody clarify this is the turbo seals leaking so I don't go spending money on repairs that are not needed. I don't get smoke on startup. Sometimes it will smoke quite bad on idle after I've give it the beans for a while. But most of the time it idles fine.
What are your thought people?
Enjoy your day and thanks in advance!

Keiran.

Hi mate,

I had a similar issue. If you sit there and give it a rev, get someone to look behind you - do you get blue smoke out when you blip the throttle? I did, and I thought it was my turbo too, ended up being a split charge pipe though. How many miles has your turbo done? They are pretty hardy...

Either way, if you end up getting the turbo out; buy a rebuild kit from turborebuilds.co.uk or something (about £45 for all seals and bearings) and do them yourself if you feel up to it - much cheaper.

Cheers,
Aran
