They can tell from the keys if they both belong to the car, mileage and stuff, they were saying it cant be stolen without a key...They can apparently tell if any other keys have been made
 
They are really taking the mick now…ive just rang to find out whats happening now they have proved my innocence….it's with the claims handling team….I asked for a name so I could call them back in a few hours….no one is actually dealing with it, So basically it's just sat there doing nothing.. I have got the car replacement bloke waiting for the go ahead to ring Audi up and sort the car out…I could have it this weekend if they just got on with it….its so frustrating….no more checks need to be done, it's just a case of someone looking at it and passing it over, how hard can be :-(
 
Well I rang the insurance again at lunch time and the lady said she will get all the paperwork together this afternoon and send it over to the car replacement guy and ring me when she has done this…Still waiting for her to call….anyway I rang the car replacement guy (thought sod her i'll go to him direct) and he has just received everything so he can now get on with getting his 3 quotes (good luck to him)…So 9am in the morning he is going to ring me..looks like I might be getting the car I left a deposit on after all…..:) big smiles now x

They sounded like they were shocked….So yes an Audi A3 can be stolen without the keys!!!! They make me so mad, I know there are some scumbags out there that would fake this and they have to do their checks but when you know it's all genuine it's quite upsetting…I never want to go through this again and wouldn’t wish it on my worst enermy...

I will be on to them first thing in the morning…..oh and my phone bill this month is £150.00 thanks to the 0844/0845 numbers :-( x

Today was looking pretty grim, the car I had put a deposit on went yesterday as they had kept it for me for 4 weeks,and couldn't keep it any longer, been ringing round like a mad woman and no joy at all, then the guy who saved the other car for me came up with a 170 with sound system package and heated seats...an guess what??? It's going to be mine next week.... Yippee!!!! Anyone know if the tax is much more??? although im not bothered if it is, this afternoon I was thinking Id have to have a basic bob one x

well after the day from hell... Long story short and the insurance lost me the 170 coz they was bartering with the price and tried fobbing me off with a black 140 at 21k, I refused point blank so they upped the price to 22600 which still wasn't anywhere near the price, anyway they've paid me out as an interim payment so I can start again with the car I want and the gap Insurance have taken over now with a dispute so I will get every penny back..idiot should have got me the the 170 coz it's now costing them more!!!!



I have just put a deposit down for a 170 quattro in ibis white so I'm all smiles now oh and I've got it for a similar price, !!! What a nightmare 6 weeks but had the best news I could wish for and should be getting it by the weekend... Thanks everyone for your kind words x

Thanks love, it's a big weight off my shoulders, police rang yesterday aswell to say another 2 a3's and a golf has been stolen from the same carpark, they have a few leads so my case might be getting re opened if anyone is arrested, so I've been to the carpark on my day off and put notes on all the new cars, it's not fair that the car park isn't warning people :( x

If only there was more decent people in the world, Like if the woman who had her's stolen the week before mine had done the same then I wouldnt have left mine, I only work 2 mins away from it so ill be going there quite often and doing the same...I want the car park closing down...ive just been and warned a bloke with a brand new BMW...a big one but dont know which model looked expensive anyway...he turned round and parked somewhere else..I could have just saved him alot of hassle and upset...makes me feel abit better anyway x x

I work on Holbeck Lane, where about's are you? I don't use that carpark but i know which one you mean. There is another carpark which is supposed to be a 'manned' carpark however the security guard seems to spend most of his time stood in Halfords talking to the people who work there, avoid that car park too.

i work on sovereign street, all them carparks seem to be dodgey, Ill never park there again, I've pay monthly now to park in a secure carpark...but at least I know it's gunna be safe, just sad I didn't know about if before x

Well the day I never thought would arrive is nearly here, I signed for the car yesterday and Audi have just rang to confirm that it has arrived from Grimsby today so will be having his PDI today, Im picking him tomorrow...I know it's friday 13th and I really dont need anymore bad luck but it was either tomorrow or sunday, I cant wait that long... So all in all 7 weeks and 1 day without a car....Time to change insurance companies I think x

If it's happening so often, why the hell don't the police station a plain clothes officer to watch the car park for a while? Or are they all too busy sitting on motorway bridges waiting to fine everyone for doing 82mph?

Or even a sting car.

If lots are being stolen from is car park it would make sense. Rig the car with cameras and a couple of trackers and catch the scumbags.
 
I've even offered to let them use my new car and plant it there but only if the proper police are gunna be there watching it, it would make my day to catch them, they don't realise all the up evil it causes when they steal a car, I've been through hell with the insurance and getting to work has been a nightmare, I couldnt go through that again and feel for anyone who has this to face x

I think that's why my claim took longer coz of the way it was stolen, I had both keys and suppose it did loook sus, just very frustrating proving I was innocent, I wouldn't have my own reg put on if I was gunna have it nicked coz I've lost that for a year, I wouldn't leave myself stranded in Leeds and leave myself stuck for getting to work, what helped me was the fact somat others got stolen ffrom same place, but yeah can see why insurance are like that, just not fair when it happens to genuine people and they ttalk to ya like you are a criminal x

Which Tracker did you decide to go with in the end?
 
Positive outcome in the end Sarah, glad its all sorted and hopefully the new car will make up for the pain and heartache you've no doubt been suffering over the past 7 weeks!

Ive gone for the Tracker Locate, they are coming out at the weekend to fit it, so just got to keep him safe and not out of my sight until then x

Thankyou, it's been an experience I hope i never have to deal with again...the new car will more than make up for it, just cant wait to see it at 5pm...I can now stop calling all the white Audi drivers names when I see them haha..x
 
Picked him up on Friday and im in love again…Forgot how good it was drive…Can definatly feel the difference from the 140 to the 170 although I havent noticed that big a difference in the MPG.

I got a little bit upset about it all this weekend, even though I've got another car now I still feel upset for the other one. People say it's only a car, but I get too attached and that's the car I ordered and waited months for, that car was made for me so it was special.. it's not even had a life and it was a great car, doesn’t deserve to be broken up at 8weeks old... I think it's because it's got my number plate on that I feel worse, if this new one had it on I would feel like ive got my car back.. I dunno I cant actaully explain how I feel…don’t think I'll forget it in a hurry.

Went shopping yesterday and left the trolley in asda 5 times while I went out to check it was still there, at night it's in the garage with an electric door and alarm, got a steering wheel lock on, blocked in by a big van and then our other car blocks the van, so they have got a job on taking it from home.

Hated leaving it this morning, it's in a secure car park next to and Audi R8 and a Ferrari I think the other one is, so fingers crossed it wont go from there, but just hated even bringing it into leeds, I feel like the theives are watching me and want this one off me too lol, not a nice way to feel at all and I hope it wears off, cant be doing with being this over paranoid..

Ill go and check it at lunch time just to be on the safe side haha xx
 
Just think of it this way you have ended up with a better car out of it every cloud and all that.
Plus the local scroates at asda (chapeltown)??? or even (parsoncross)??? are only interested in vauxhalls. lol

I think the only way that you can look at it is that unfortauntely, these things do happen. As bad as it is, theres not much apart from being aware that it happens, and doing what you can to prevent it.

Going out and checking on your car every 10 minutes is a feeling of insecurity and vunerability created as a result of whats happened. I've no doubt that as time passes, you'll start to be more comfortable and you'll be fine leaving your car whilst you shop and will be fine just leaving your car parked on the drive..

Enjoy your new car and don't worry too much!

Just a word of caution though, don't post about which tracker you have! I know it sounds silly but you are giving a potential thief a head start by doing so ;)

They now know which technologies that your tracker uses and may also have an idea where to "sniff" for it!

Haha yeah your right, I have got a better car from it all...a more nickable one has my brother said...it was chapeltown Asda..i thought i might get my wheels nicked at parsons cross lol x

Your right, it will get better over time..police have said that it's only "hot" for the first year and as it gets older it becomes less attractive to nick..but ive still heard of older one been taken.. I left the other one on the drive and it was fine, it was blocked in though, I dont think it will go from home (touch wood) but i wanna keep it out of sight..I am enjoying it, it's got 150 miles on clock now because Id rather drive it than leave it parked up lol x
