What are the options here? Or is the stock manifold ok? Reason I ask is that I been speaking to a friend who makes manifolds up and he's going to make up one for me, for the k03/s to test.

I've heard that moat aftermarket ko3 manifolds crack apart from the ins ones but that like 500 quid. Im still on standard manifold so I can't confirm how accurate this is. I know bill has ported the standard manifold for some which work ok

Jardo runs a THS high flow cast manifold on his ko3S, but it's cracked very badly after probably less than 5000 miles. performance wise it seems OK, his car pulls unusually well, but with a 5000 mile life span, it's just not worth it.

I think Bill found from testing that the ko3 manifolds flow far better in standard form than the ko4 manifolds, hence often seeing better power figures from a ko3/4 hybrid when compared to a standard ko4-023 unit.

I think they also found that a ported stock ko3 manifold flowed almost as well as the high flow ones available

prawn what manifold dis you UAE with your k03s?

I think I'll only replace mine if I find its cracked.

standard manifold on mine matey, 200k and plenty of massive cracks in it, but the stock ones only seem to crack inside the collector, and don't crack externally, so it's not a big issue.

jardo's THS one has cracked externally, and leaks like a sieve!

I have a spare that I might get someone to look into porting as well (for me, unlike Fred who just wants monies)

For us longitude mounted 1.8t`s the Manifold off of the B6 A4 1.8t 190bhp BEX model is bigger than the normal

Not that it really helps as it wouldnt fit properly but thought i`d post it anyway lol.

may be worth me buying another manifold just incase mine is cracked if it isn't ill get it ported when doing the hybrid

I ran my stock AUM k03s manifold at around 380bhp with NOS & WMI and 299bhp with turbo & WMI, and around 270bhp with out WMI. I ported the collector and runner number 3, no crack and no issues.

Take it by your name your the nick from r-tech in leicester?

Tbh I think it is my manifold which has facilitated my extra power and has let the map go right to the limiter. All of my power is top end, above 4500RPM and my car does not drive like other 1.8t's. I have said for a while I think this is down to the manifold, from reading stories and watching build threads I am certain that manifolds can totally change the way these cars drive.

I will be refitting a ported AGU manifold soon so I will give a back to back comparison, the stock manifolds can be made to make good power though so unless you are chasing every BHP I don't think it is worth bothering. If I feel a difference between manifolds I will certainly buy another THS one if one comes up or invest in having my cracked manifold strengthened and rewelded, because it is visible from my manifold how different it is to every other performance manifold for the K03 that I have seen. Mine doesn't have curvy pipes to one collector for optimum flow, it is all as short as possible and the collector is just all the pipes smoothed and smashed together haha.

I haven't a dyno plot of another THS manifold on a stage two car so I can't say for sure.

Out of interest Nick, would you be able to send me a PM with any info you still have on my car? R935 WCK is the reg. You weren't very happy with it because it left making spikes of 28psi and holding 26 if asked haha! You might remember me, I am Nicks friend who came up with his girlfriend from Plymouth for a 1.5 map on her black A3, you gave us a couple of T Pieces and got underneith to find a split in the pancale pipe?

I think i have a cracked mani, and i know a guy in birmingham that is a specialist in welding cast manifolds, take it from your post that whilst im getting mine welded i mite aswel get him to port it at the same time? He assures me that his welds are top notch and he was babbling about the way he does it but i cant remember as it was abit over my head lol

Ha good to know your a asn member, will pm you to pick your brains about the special offers you guys have for asn members ;) sorry for polluting your thread BB :(
