Hi, I have an Audi A3, 2.0l tdi 140, the car is on a 2004 plate, 8P?
The front wheel bearing has gone, i bought one locally and it came with a new hub bolt and four bolts to secure the hub but i need help buying the correct sockets for the job.
The hub bolt is 12 sided, around 24mm??? , maybe metric???, can anybody advise me on the correct socket required.

The hub itself came with four bolts that secure it, they have a 12 sided pattern going into the head of the bolt (male), again i have no idea what size of socket i need to buy so i can get the bearing changed, please help, thanks...

Ok, after some digging i found the required info. For future reference it is as follows...

Required tools:
21mm Socket - for removing brake calipers
12mm triple square socket/bit - to remove 4 rear bolts on wheel bearing/hub
T30 socket/bit - to remove rotor from hub

27mm socket - to remove axle bolt
*** Some have a standard hex bolt and some have a 12 point bolt head. Make sure to check your specific vehicle. ***

3 inch extensions for ratchet

Rubber mallet - to pound out axle from wheel hub(not shown in picture)
Torque wrench with capable range from 35-150 ft lbs.

A breaker bar to remove a seized axle bolt - these usually only come in 3/4 socket size so a 3/4 to 1/2 reducer will be needed.

Ok, just bought all the tools i didn't have, one adjustment to the above is that the wheel hub bolt is 5/16 th in size with 12 splines inside it, a 24mm fits but it is a bit loose, hope this info helps someone else down the line...

One big question
I have a 1.6 audi a3 from 2012 with a 5 speed manual box is there any way to put a 6 speed manual gearbox instead. just because it would be nice to go 80miles an hour with out the 4k rpm doing my heading for most of the trip
Has anyone done it before
