how can you tell what the bhp is,the engine is out of the car was and car is gone.

You need the 3 letter engine code from it to tell for sure

contacted the seller and he said all he can see is wx on the engine,i presume that its awx or is there a code wx

The engine code should be on the data sticker in the spare wheel well, and in the service book. Once you get that it will tell you the engine which 'should' be in the car and you can find out where the code is stamped on that specific engine to cross reference it.

The code is usually stamped on a flat plate around the top of the block near the cylinder head.

There is a VAG engine with the code AWX, and it is a 1.9TDI PD with 130bhp.

If they've found the WX bit, if they look a bit harder and maybe clean up a bit around it, they may see it's stamped AWX?
