I'm only fitting the grille though, not the full bumper, so won't lose my foggies. It's like pea soup up in Aberdeen tonight, so wouldn'tbe without a good set of fogs, lol. :) x
 
You wouldnt expect fog lights on a 45k car would you Digz ? :)

There was a thread on this a couple of days back where the opinion was we would be surprised to find it a straight fit because of this reason (I want one also) but going on the above photo it may and should work.

I look forward to the photos.

I've looked at SO many different pics of the RS3 and 8P3 S3 grilles side by side and shape and size wise they seem identical, so hopefully it will go on without too much work. As you say, the pic I posted of the pre-production RS3 with the standard S3 grille shows that it fits perfectly in the RS bumper. The only thing would be if Audi changed the way the grille is fixed in place. I know the clips on both are all in exactly the same places, but if they have gone to the trouble of changing the design of the clips and screw holes, then I might need to do some modding, ..Dremel time, lol! :wub:

Jeezo, I just found out how much the RRP is on the RS3 black Optics grille from Audi in Germany! 693.47 EUROS!!!! That's outrageously expensive at more than double what the S3 Optics grille costs!!

The part number for the RS3 standard grille with the alu surround is 8P0 853 651T MOJ and the Black Optics RS3 grille is 8P0 853 651T T94. :) x

At last we have a definitive answer to whether or not the RS3 grille will fit straight in to the 8P3 bumper, guys and girls! IT FITS!!! No modifications needed to get it to fit, but unlike the A3/S3 grille variations, the RS3 item does not have any air holes up in the right hand side where the bonnet closes over it (for the air intake), so some holes need to be drilled. Here's how it looks :wub: x

Paullie can I ask where you got the wind deflectors from and do they actually work?

I think a design flaw on (at least) the 3 door is that when it rains or has been raining it pours into the car with the window open,

I was wondering if some deflectors might help.

Hey Wez, no probs. These are my second set of Team Heko wind deflectors and I find that they do work really well. I like to have my window open a lot of the time - when it's not hot enough to use aircon - and they certainly stop the rain from dripping into the car when it's raining or has been raining. I bought mine from Ebay, good cheap mod too :wub: x

That grille looks the nuts Paula well done I love it !!!!P.s. I fitted your old grille and it looks brilliant,re-badged it with an s line badge and it's transformed the front end made up with it thanks again

No probs, Buddy. Here you are -

Part numbers
8P3 853 289 D Y9B (left)
8P3 853 290 D Y9B (right)

Price - £34.46 (per side) inclusive of VAT from Stoke Audi.

6 x Pop Rivets - AN 016 185 7 (but if you buy a pop rivet gun from Ebay, it comes with the same size as the ones you need. These are around £0.10 each from Audi if you buy from them.


They are held on by 3 pop rivets on each side. These need to be carefully drilled out using a 3mm drill bit, until the centre of each rivet gives way. After all rivets are out, they just slide off. I bought a pop rivet gun from Ebay for about £5 including postage and it comes with lots of rivets including the ones you need for the job. This is the one I bought.

Fitting them is literally a 2 minute job, the pop rivets go in very easily and job done! They will really look amazing on your Ibis White car! :wub: xx
