So about a month ago, my 85kW 1.6 TDI with 29k miles started producing horrible knocking noises until clutch is pressed. Once you press the clutch, the sound would go away. Dealership diagnosed it as a failing DMF, they replaced DMF and I was happy all until today... the horrible noise is back. What kind of DMF does Audi put into their cars anyway if they go bad again after only 1000 or so miles? It's not like I don't know how to drive, I have been driving for a bit more than 10 years and in those 10 years I've had 1 DMF failure only (with car that had well over 180k miles on the clock), all up until the new A3 which is incredibly disapointing. I will attach the pictures of my old DMF as sent to me by the dealership as I feel there is something else killing my DMFs potentially. Any ideas?
