From my knowledge b7 a4's never had an option for a factory fit 3.5mm aux jack input for any oem head unit. Ive recently discovered however, that the seat exeo's had aux input from the factory. Does anyone know wether the similarities between the A4 and Exeo are more than skin deep. Im wondering if an input could be fitted and coded as it is in the Seat providing the electric systems are the same?

Im itching to to be able to plug in my phone but dont like the idea of ramming all the aftermarket sh*t behind the dash!

    Cheers

Anything is possible Alex , but with the numerous wiring looms fitted and to both cars I think you'd need to do some heavy duty research to make sure it will retro fit.
Probably if looms were all simplified across both platforms things may work fine but being audi anything is possible and normally is..
good luck if get is sorted, sadly I hate looms and wiring because they just so darn complicated some times.

I suspect someone out there will have the answer.

    have a good one chap

    Cheers Rob,

Ive actually given in and purchased a kit from ebay, around £35ish. Its similar to an fm modulator type but slightly different and better. I will test when fitted and report back. The joys of being a stickler for the details!

Probably best plan Chap , seems a more logical route and less problematic aswell.

This is the one I've ordered. Ive seen many similar on youtube but will have to wait until it arrives. I do plan on modifying the set up to accommodate a prober aux port at somepoint but we shall see if this works first.

Well this morning has been productive. The kit arived yesterday so i fitting this morning. I had to crimp an eylet to the earth wire but that is no biggy. I added some cloth loom tape to the new wiring too to tidy things up a little. I managed to feed the very short aux lead between the centre console and the glove box and this works well, however i do intend to modify and add a dedicated socket somewhere. All in all it works very well and sounds brill too. I definitely recommend

    This is the kit
    IMG_20190110_23880.jpg
All taped up for a more oem tidy look
    IMG_20190110_50718.jpg
The aux lead slots through the gap nicely and tucks away in the glove box when not in use IMG_20190110_1358.jpg

To enable aux, you simply connect to your device, press the cd button twice until cdc1 is shown on the display. And away you go. Track shuffle on the mfsw doesn't work but the sound does which doesnt bother me. Also i believe if you have a separate glove box cd changer this mod doest work?

You can get these type of kits to work alongside the glovebox cd changer, I installed the xcarlink version when I first got the car and it works ok.

I probably use the changer more than anything but good to have the option for aux or bluetooth, especially on longer journeys.

It takes 6 in the glovebox changer and one more in the headunit, usually plenty on ebay but the glovebox insert needs to be a certain type to fit the changer, I ended up swapping the whole box and changed the lock instead.

    hi,
Both car are same and same coding and electronic items used. What is HU on your car?
If it is RNSE or ConcertII it should be installed

Is this something you have tried chap and installed?
I had concert2 and it was not installed and from my last search into 09 exeo parts and wiring etc they don't have the same circuits etc, some parts & looms maybe similar and share similar functions but not exactly the same, many parts are will be the same but not all, and with audi having such a wide range of options , variations are very common.
Seat may have the old B7 production line etc but there are numerous differences between the 06 b7 and the 09 exeo.
    Just my input

I have 90% of my music stored on my phone so an aux works well for me. Some bluetooth systems can provide a poor quality sound too which i haven't expirienced from an aux yet. Thats my opinion anyway

I'm still playing vinyl Alex, but on proper kit.
A good undamaged vinyl copy of Pink Floyd played back on a decent turntable and good speakers …..nothing else even get's close.

"Ok Google play Pink Floyd on all speakers" works fine for me.

Good work on the setup Alex, I'm a big fan of how you've retained the original headunit as I have allot of bad experiences with aftermarket headunits playing up in one way or another.

Ripped the 6 CD multichanger out of mine because race car.
