03 avant 1.9 tdi quattro turbo

Evening all, new here.

I am looking at buying an A4 Avant and the person selling has said it needs a new turbo..

How big of job is this to tackle on my own, maybe someone has done it before perhaps?

If I am definitly buying it I was going to replace turbo with a recon, flush oil feeds and engine/drop the sump and clean intercooler out.. its only got to last me a year or two as a stop gap but would I be taking on a money pit..

Although on a 1.8t the process would be very similar, I replaced the core on mine for £146 all it took was 3 - 4 hours of my time.
