    Hello all :)

Right just getting to the bottom of fixing my Audi A3 that I brought from copart with accident damage

It's coming up with "esp fault see owners Manuel" in the centre display

So I stuck the vcds on it at work and it came up wit

    01435 - brake pressure sensor 1 (g201)
012 - electrical fault in circuit

I haven't had chance to look if the abs pump was damaged in the accident but I wouldn't of through so looking at the damage

On the Ross tech website it says try going into basic settings on which I tried but I select the pressure sensor and just get error in the box :-/

    but heres the odd things
-on the way home from collecting it 2 of the brake lights wernt working and they now are.
-and while i had the vcds plugged in a pressed the brakes and it came up with a brake warning in the centre display

so ross tech also say it could be brake light switch which above faults could say it could be that,
so it is worth trying a brake light switch as i dont have a lot of money to spend at the mo but have anyone else had same faults

heres the cars current state just waiting for my bumper and bonnet to be painted

Have the same issues with my front impact a3. Will be going down the repair kit route. Fixed my golf 5 with similar issues but this was not accident damaged.

What other damage was caused in the engine bay? Judging by the pictures I would have guessed that the bonnet was pushed back onto the top of the engine at the very least.

Why not try swapping out the brake pedal switch if the part is not too expensive?

Judging by the Ross-Tech info I'd be checking the following in this order

    Perform Brake Pump Bleeding
Perform Brake Pressure Sensor 1 (G201) Basic Setting
    Check/Replace Brake Pedal Switch (F)
    Check/Replace Brake Pressure Sensor 1 (G201)
ABS Hydraulic Unit (N55) may need to be replaced
Replace/Check Brake Electronics Control Module (J104)

There was no damage to engine, only broke what I've replaced and the airbox took a bit of it but collected most of the bits for that and plastic welded it back together for the mo,

I think I mite try a brake light switch tomorrow

I tried basic setting with no success but just get errors come up so think it is the pump itself

I know the repair kit is cheaper bit have they modified it so u never get the fault again as thinking about spending the extra and sending it to ecu testing or bba reman who give a lifetime warranty

Is it correct that the brake light switch is on the master cyclinder as I have only done golfs, fabias etc at work and there all by the pedal

Seems very light damage to end up at Copart in the first place for an A3 at that age...?

Looks like all just bolt on parts? Wouldn't that suggest there may be something more with the abs than a brake switch?

    Good luck with it anyway

Damage level doesn't really come into it. Costs or repair determine what category level it is. Secondly any car that had had airbags deployed and any kind of suspension damage normally ends up on Copart as a cat C.
If a basic reset fails , next on the hitlist would the sensor changes and the abs repair kit . I am having mine looked at Tuesday with the same issue , I will feedback results .

I think they cat d it because it took the rad with it, and that will be very grateful for your finding
And I have had it on the road for 2 days now and it's drives and brakes lovely just has no abs/traction control/esp but I'm used to that anyway with my nova :)

Right feedback is I have had to change the steering angle sensor, and the abs kit replaced. One of one rear abs sensors was throwing a mechanical fault , have had this changed along with a wheel bearing.

I have the information you need. A brake pressure switch which is different from a brake light switch.
The brake sensor switch comes in with theABS repair kit from the dealers. If they cannot repair under good will or warranty . TPS sells this for £152.57.

In my case I also required a steering angle sensor at £72.31 .

My rear near side Abs sensor was throwing these fault codes or relaying to the ABS pump that it was skidding .

It has come at a cost to me , in hindsight I will do it myself.

You will of course need to re bleed your brakes and require a one man bleed kit. Brake fluid and loads of time in your hands.

However it will save you at least £250 on labour alone.

We have a electric pressure bleeder that screws to the master cylinder so sorted there.
I've already borought and payed for the brake light switch so gonna fit just wanted some tips and pointers on how to change the brake light switch, is the abs pump easy to get to when u remove all the battery etc

It Excludes vat. yes abs pump is easy to replace. You don't need to remover the whole pump. The abs kit is the front black bit of the pump and not the whole pump. Just your Allen keys and the brake pipe spanner of course.
