67 plate 1.4 B9 is due it's first oil change / inspection in the coming weeks. (2yr flexible) I have contacted local dealers and nearly fell off my chair when quoted £473.....as I found out the 4 dealers within 50 miles of me are all lookers, so going though to servicing is transferred to a central booking dept who can see the original price quoted and won't budge.

I questioned if they had the quoted the wrong level of service, I was assured "no sir, but it isn't just an oil change, we will change the pollen filter and do a diagnostic check" (assume the oil is being replaced with unicorn tears for £473!)

I know the game with Audi is to get them to price match an indie specialist, however the car is on PCH which states the servicing must be done at a main dealer - plus I dont like the idea of stiffing an idie just to get a lower price elsewhere - I'd rather just given them the business and lets face it would probably get a better job done...

Is £473 really the going rate? It's not the cost as such, but the feeling im right royally having my pants pulled down.

That's cr*p, a service on a S4 is cheaper, mine is costing me £9.56 a month over 36 months for three services...

Both BMW and Mercedes would be as equally costly

The c-class is about that per service, but its serviced yearly! Obviously I want to screw down Audi to the best price when I go, but I’m just thankful I’m no longer in my c class, Mercedes take service costs to a whole new level.....

So how long are you keeping the car? If 3 years and assuming you only have this service in that time then £13.14/month for your servicing. Does that seem excessive to you? Would you prefer every 9 months at £157? Take a trip to the dealer. Admire the shiny clean building, drink the free refreshments, use the wifi, have a nice long chat with your service advisor, get them to give you a lift somewhere and then pick you up when the car is ready and don't whine about how they charge more than your local independent.

Or just go to an independent specialist and get it done for half that price...

None of that would lessen the blow of paying £473 for around £60-80 worth of oil and filters and less than an hours worth of labour.

I was well under half that for my S4 at a main dealer having matched an independent.

I'm sure the fee for having incomplete service history at the end of the lease is less than that btw......

Cheers Paul_P1, was that for service + inspection 19,000 miles flex. out of interest? or just the 1 year fixed oil service?

Yeah, but two, or three, wrongs never made a right. Or so my old mother, God rest her soul, used to tell me. I was just charged £271.10 for the same oil change and inspection for my wife's 1Ltr A3. It would have been £340 had I not told them to forget about the pollen filter.

It's nothing other than daylight robbery.

The service manager laughed when I told him that **** Turpin at least had the decency to wear a mask when he was robbing people until, that is, I told him I was not trying to tell him a joke.

I was quoted about the same from Audi (3.0TDI) actually more as they tried to include a service for the Aircon. I took it to an independent specialist instead for half the price.

Yes they will advise a air conditioning service at the appropriate interval. I always have this done at two years...

I've had many Audis over the last 20 years but I've never paid more than £250 for any service that hasn't required extras. Is this price what to expect now? My A4 came with 2 free services, next one I will have to cough up for....

Pretty sure my oil service was only around £300 quid. I mentioned the price match deal and also didn't feel right getting an indie to go to the trouble of an in-depth written quote just so I could get a cheaper deal, so just asked them outright for a discount and got a further 10%.

This was through Lookers also by the way. Are you sure it's just an oil service and are you sure that they know it's just an oil service?

I've just been quoted £360 for my 2 year "oil change and inspection service" at my local Audi dealer, sounds like this is the same service you're up for? My 67 plate A4 2.0 tfsi is on lease so I have to go with an Audi network centre, no point in bothering to price match with indie in that case, I'll just have to suck it up. I thought mine was a tad excessive but £473 seems pretty nuts!
