£320 For First Oil Service! WTF!

Hi All

My S5 will be going back to the leasing company at the end of March, but its due its first oil service. I've been quoted £320 by two local dealers for this, and WTF! its a 10 min job and the oil isn't made of gold surely!

I've also be quoted a reasonable (ish) £198 by an Audi specialist, but i'm not sure I can use specialists? Anyone else had this dilemma with a lease car?

Audi Dealerships will price match as long as the quote is all including Genuine OEM parts.

I used an Audi approved independent garage which was £120.00 for this. Lawfully Audi cannot deny you doing this as long as they are approved and use Audi approved parts. They update the log book online and reset the MMI. I would avoid the main stealers if you can.

This is incorrect depending on the terms of your leasing agreement. @IJB1959 is referring to block-exemption legislation that stops Audi denying warranty claims if the car has been serviced by someone else. However, as your car is leased, it doesn't belong to you and so you need to ahere to the terms in which the owner has lent you the car. In other words if your leasing agreement states that the car must be serviced by an Audi dealer then that's where you need to take it I'm afraid.

Usually when I'm leasing, I hand the car back a month early to avoid having to pay for a service just before it's due back.

This offer expired on 31st of December 2018. Was pretty useless anyway as dealers were asking for a written quote with part numbers from the competing garage.

An "Audi Centre" is an Audi dealer, not an independant garage. For me that answers the question but if you still have doubts, I'd call them and ask. I've leased a number of cars over the years and I've yet to see an agreement that doesn't specify it has to go to the dealer. I've never breached the terms of a lease so I don't know what the consequences of not doing would be.

The oil is a significant part of the cost in any dealer service. If you supply your own, sources significantly cheaper than the dealer, you can make a reasonable saving, even over an Indy.

I bought the add on service pack online for my S5, £468 and includes the first oil change and then an oil change and interim service. Very strange as someone else on here tried the same with an almost identical S5 which was also approved use but got a message online saying no service packs were available.

Am I being perdantic but that's for plans, whereas:
"I asked for it but no service pack for RS models. BMW 1-0 Audi"

So easy to confuse as I thought it was a service pack containing oil and filters.

I already have a three year service plan anyway at £9.56 a month...

I have leased a number of cars from BMW, Audi, Maserati and VW in the last decade and every single one of them stipulated it had to go to the dealer. Either by outright saying it or in Maserati’s case “must be service by our authorised agent.”

That’s the difference with leasing and finance. You have to agree to their terms for letting you borrow the motor for a few years.

Thanks for the link! Wasn’t working via my phone but did it on my Mac today! £468 for 2 services isn’t bad IMHO! Will ha e to get it booked in over the next few days as it’s flashing warnings of how many days I have left every time!

The best price I’d got for the first oil change was £225 from an indy garage so there’s no way the full 2nd inspection would have been cheap so not only will it be done by a franchised dealer it’ll be cheaper too!

Thats a lot cheaper than anywhere around Nottingham or Derby, over £300 just for the oil change

I spoke to local dealer about an oil and inspection today and they offered oil Change - £314, inspection £218 and together £ 412. Didn't call anyone else as I deduced that I had an oil and inspection last March so the inspection shouldn't be for ages! They will be resetting the clock for me in a week or so... bit of a pain.

But they are carrying out the camera update required at the same time. I mentioned the gearbox and hesitation and a bit lumpy now and again and they said no updates due... but might be a TSB that covers it. I would need to book it in for investigation.

Well, Im now booked in with Cheshire Oaks Audi, £287, that includes a wash and hoover and health check

£30-£40 cheaper than anywhere else, but I think its going to cost me more than that at the outlet village! doh!

Not happy at all - my car is due its first service on Wednesday and is already booked in, service plan was paid in full on 6th February and just got this from Audi....

This means that your Service Plan online purchase hasn't been successfully fulfilled, and we will delete the contact information provided and process you a refund for any payment of the plan.


You don't need to do anything – we will contact you via email to confirm the payment and service plan details have been deleted within the next 5 working days.

I've phoned Audi Finance, who the service plan is through (although I paid for it all in one lump sum), and spoke to the most unhelpful and quite rude man who just kept on reading out the email to me like I was some imbecile who couldn't read. The thing is, my car was originally due to be serviced last Wednesday but due to another on-going fault was changed to this week, so I would already have had the service paid for by the service plan if the car hadn't developed this fault. Basically he couldn't tell me what the problem was just that 'your vehicle does not qualify for this particular product'. I suspect that it is down to a computer error giving us with 3.0L cars the price of the 2.0L cars and Audi not wanting to honour this. After getting nowhere with Audi Finance he said to contact the dealer so I'll have to do that after work - but it was booked in with this dealer as they are local and far from the cheapest! I'm fuming!!!!

Has anyone else with the S5 who got the service plan for £468
