The EGR delete and remap were done by Motech in Northampton, I blanked the EGR off myself using VAG parts from Audi.
No knock in effects, I don't have a DPF but it won't have a negative effect, in fact it will be better as you get far less particulates without the EGR so your DPF shouldn't...
After dicking with my engine for a few months (BRE) I can wholeheartedly recommend getting the EGR mapped out and then blank it off. I also had a mild remap (+35hp/50Nm) at the same time.
The car pulls much better, engine is much smoother (used to hesitate a little at WOT going through the...
I had a very close call on way to work with the cheap Chinese tyres on that came with the car, I had to stand on the pedal when someone pulled into the roundabout I was in without looking and it made me realise that wet weather performance is just not worth compromising on.
Perfect, I don't thrash around the place but they give plenty of confidence in wet and dry, seem to be wearing well so far and the tread pattern looks really good on the car too
spent 5 hours on the car this afternoon...
First stripped the Inlet assy down, bearing in mind i cleaned the EGR valve around 5k miles ago it was in a terrible state again today:
Now that the valve is fixed closed I cleaned it all back to shiny bare metal again and fitted an ally blanking...
I run Uniroyal Rainsport 2's.
http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Uniroyal/Rainsport-2.htm
The way I see it, the roads are wet in the UK more often than not and snow tyres aren't worth having in the UK so tyres that are especially good in the wet are a good choice for all year-round. They are...
Blue smoke is burning oil, if it's only from cold then somehow while the engine sits cold some oil is getting into the combustion system, could be a number of things but if it was someting serious like head gasket or turbo oil seals you'd see other symptoms including high oil consumption...
I know it's been a while since I last posted, I got sidetracked with a house extension so the inlet manifold and vacuum unit never got a look in...
Anyway, the car has been running well lately no issues on startup, still a little smokey on full load at certain speeds but only thing really...
Just been to Audi (it's around the corner from work) and paid £14 for an inlet manifold gasket and the valve. Looks like that's my sunday morning booked then....
Ok I've found the valve...
Can't seem to find anything that says what it does but for not a lot of money I think I'll change it, would be great if it solved the remaining niggles.
Cheers mate, I'll let you know how it goes!
Thanks for the reply, however I'm not sure what part you're referring to though? What does the vacuum Do you have any pics?
Just to check it is the 2.0 not the 1.9 you're talking about right?
Cheers
Just thought I'd update on my progress on this topic...
I ran the BG44 through a full tank earlier in the month with a mix of economy spec commuting, mixed throttle country lane driving and motorway with a few full load runs up to high speed. Conclusions are:
- Still misfires on warm startup
-...
What bad luck mate, definitely appears to have had debris in the gears, either a foreign object or the balance shaft has some play (bearing wear possibly) causing the teeth to partially un-mesh, but you would probably be able to feel that on inspection.
What were the symptoms when driving?
If...
Yes unfortunately I'm trying to do this on a budget and it looks like I need £20's worth of Aerial adaptor, an ipod interface (>£50) and CD changer so a £50 radio upgrade to allow me to play Mp3 discs soon turns to £200.
The aerial thing seems to be a bit of a minefield, my original HU has a...
My god that is so sad, I cant imagine what that poor guy and his family must be going through. I can't make the show but have just sent a tenner and will try and spread the word of facebook.
