For arms, Lemforder or Meyle HD. Not used Febi before for arms, but have used them for top mounts. Not cheap, but hey you don’t want to do this job twice.
If tackling upper arms, another tip is to replace one arm at a time (Dave Sterl videos on YouTube), so it lines up with the opposite arm. I...
I replaced the turbo on on B8 Allroad, well, when I say I replaced it, a local Indy did it. It was going into limp mode and would reset if the car was switched off and restarted. I scanned with VCDS and it pointed to the actuator. I’m spanner handy, but given it’s a critical component, I trusted...
Buying cars is a funny old business. Earlier this month I was all for getting rid of my B8 Allroad and pumping £30k into a C7 A6 Allroad V6. Sanity kicked it. Like you, it’s got to be right. Colour is everything, plus condition of course. You’re already looking at a very niche car, plus the...
Would this fit? Don’t know supplier. https://www.msparts.eu/en/auto-parts/9834-audi-a3-a4-a6-genuine-mirror-glass-set-lh-rh-heating-dimming-03-07-year.html
There’s the option of buying genuine Audi breaker B7 wings in colour. Post painting metallic colour is always going to be difficult, and a body shop may blend in the doors and bumper to get it seamless but just ask for images of the inside wing lip/edges if you’re buying based on images alone...
Meyle HD is heavy duty, and its quality, 4 year warranty, etc. Lemforder is probably OE specisification, but agree, expensive. Febi Bilstein is good too. I ordered a top mount for my wife's BMW i3 and was impressed. That's the only three manufacturers I'd consider. You could try Audi themselves...
Do a complete brake rebuild with parts from Bigg Red. If it's not the brake sliders, it's corrosion under the dust sleeve not allowing the piston to retract. Bleed brakes afterwards, furthest wheel from the reservoir a corner at a time.
Use a socket on the brake nipples. Wire brushed and apply...
Your car is trying to tell you something!
Ouch, looks a sore one. Anyway, best of luck getting it patched up.
When I sold my B5 2.5 TDI V6 quattro avant sport I felt guilty. I still check the MOT on the government site to see her new owner is doing the right thing. Was at 200k miles last time...
Intermittent rough idle could be injectors. If nothing on VCDS it can't be that serious I'd have thought. I've used a bottle of Forte diesel conditioner straight into fuel filter before on my old B5 2.5 TDI V6, then drove hard in 2nd and 3rd gears. Will smoke initially, but will clear. Replace...
Very nice. Satisfying to see your hard work has paid off. Was parked next to an 06 plate A4 in Dundee today, kerbed alloys, scuffed paintwork and rusty front wings. Was nearly greet'n!
Just sold my old Amtrak locomotive. It was a 2001 AKN (150PS) with 173k miles for slightly more than your 2002 B6 (180PS) price. I love these cars, but after 10 years of ownership it was time to move on. Admittedly my one was in great shape with all the paperwork.
These are relatively old cars...
There's no adjustment to be made. You can pop off the wiper but the spindle is where the play is. You can grease the nylon cog internals (as the brass washer pipe usually shears at some point) and the motor is toast.
ARB C links? If it's over a cobbled street or steel grating it will be evident. Check out that spring. You can do a rough measurement using your hand from the top of the tyre to the underside of the wing.
Unfortunately not. Non quattro rears are straight forward as the bearing is integral with the brake disc. Fronts on the other hand, quattro and 2WD are a different beast altogether. More details here: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/360253-Front-wheel-bearing-replacement
Second only to a B5 RS4... now that is the dog's danglies.
Back to the OP. There is a tendancy for misplaced loyalty, especially if the car has absorbed your time and your money. Better the devil you know, and all that.
It would irritate the hell out of me taking a car back to a garage...
