Dont trust myself to remove a grill and the window surrounds without breaking anything.... these goddam Audis dont like being taken to bits.

Does anyone know if you can retrofit a black optics pack? I've seen many grill surrounds changed - but I wondered if its easy to change the window surrounds to the black optic parts as well? If so are there any garages offering it? Grateful for any advice!

Thanks John, that sounds like an interesting fix. Sorry to be pedantic, but will spacing the motor off in this way either move the 'point of completing feedback' to the ECU? further or closer? I understand it will help to take up the slack in the rid; but will help or make worse the original...

Had a look at my engine operation with the cover off. I can see both rods moving the flaps as I increase the revs. Also on start up they move fully closed then open (or vice versa - not sure what they are actually doing...) so everything is working as it should. However, what I can see is that...

Chrisa4quat, do you know how the broken rod feeds back to the ECU that its 'in fault'? is it a microswitch or a potentiometer? Can it be gagged/shorted out to get the light out just for that particular fault?

I also have the dreaded intake manifold runner fault:INT MAN RUNNER B2 LOWER LIMIT NOT REACHED fault code..... So, according to the Independent garage, to fix this tiny fault costs £1200 in parts plus one or two hours labour. Searching the web finds lots of people ignoring the problem and...

Prel2000; In no way is that 'normal' behaviour!! Mine was great from cold and superb when warm, never had to do any kind of starting and waiting. Mine was normal for a year then remapped for a year, temperament was always ace. There's definitely something wrong; try a local garage before you go...

Yes, concur, although my 2.0T sounds OK at tickover, acceleration within the car especially in first gear sounds almost like a diesel. There's lots of previous discussion on this subject throughout the A4 B7 forum.... its the direct injection system which is the same as a diesel's injector...
