Audi A4 Cabriolet Soft Top/ Roof / Hood Motor Repair Guide

The carbon brushes are inside the rectangular copper tubes (carriers), they should be able to move freely back and forward in the carriers but what usually happens is one or both get stuck. Using a small flat headed screwdriver carefully (they can break) try prying the carriers open slightly to...

    Paddleshift question (3.0Tdi s-line)

Guessing you mean when the box is in D or S and you use the paddles to go into manual? If that's the case the car will eventually go back to 'auto' on it's own but with mine the time it takes seems to vary depending on driving style, if the throttle input stays pretty constant it'll go back...

    Re map on 3.0 tdi

My cabby was remapped by Shark Performance to 270bhp and 550NM which made a noticeable difference, particularly in the midrange. That company has gone to the wall but there are plenty of others quoting higher gains. I'd recommend checking your insurance before getting your map of choice done...

What would spend £1000 on , well on your B7 that is.

Tend to agree, until a few months ago we had 3 cars but really only needed 2. Was going to let the old bus go but the valuations were a joke, got shot of the Focus ST instead.

What would spend £1000 on , well on your B7 that is.

Get peeling alloys powder coated, new rear valance(or repair) and rear bumper resprayed. Car would be back to immaculate but really don't know if it's worth spending the money on it, only done 70 odd K but the book price is peanuts.

Best Cleaner for a Really Dirty A4 Cab Hood?

I've had my cabby for over 7 years and tried a few different methods but eventually gave up on the patchy results and hit it with the pressure washer. Appreciate that this method is not recommended by Audi but it does work, it's amazing how much crud comes out, far more than a vac or sponge will...

What do you guys think of bras?

Also -IME - they can sometimes be a bit awkward to get off.

    Rusty wings!

Wheel it along to Audi first, the anti corrosion warranty is 12 years IIRC. Both of my front wings had slight bubbling under the paintwork, it took a few months of 'reminders' but Audi eventually replaced them. Ultimately I had to pay about £300 because the second assessor over ruled the first...

    Re-locating Battery 3.0tdi

Yep, it's a heavy battery but at least it's behind the axel, it's that muckle 3.0tdi sticking out the front that's the 'problem' :-)

    Re-locating Battery 3.0tdi

Depending on the type of battery you might need a breather pipe as well, you'll also need to find a way of clamping it down securely or it's an MOT failure. The battery's a very tight fit into it's usual spot and awkward to change but I'm with Tom on this mod, unless you desperately need that...

    Rear Bumper valance/difuser removal.

Been meaning to switch mine for ages so will be interested to see how you get on - I've got the same towbar.

    B7 3.0ltr TDi future

Sounds familiar, I've been thinking of chopping in the A4 and my Golf for a Golf R or S3, missus normally doesn't give too hoots about cars but she's putting her foot down on giving up the cabby. Needs an mot this week, taxed at over £300 now and the RAC warranty is due as well :-(

Audi A4 Cabriolet Soft Top/ Roof / Hood Motor Repair Guide

I can't remember TBH. I phoned TPS a couple of years back and they were actually dearer than Audi but £175 rings a bell - I think I updated this thread back then. That was in October or November, I didn't bother and fixed it, when it broke down again I phoned back in the spring and the prices...

Audi A4 Cabriolet Soft Top/ Roof / Hood Motor Repair Guide

You need to hold it quite firmly but it should just slide back into position with a bit of gentle persuasion. It won't centre until fully home IIRC.

Audi A4 Cabriolet Soft Top/ Roof / Hood Motor Repair Guide

The OP offers an upgraded brush set, I had it done over a year ago and - tempting fate now - no issues since. Suggest getting in touch with Vagpro, I'm sure he'll sort you out.

    Thoughts on these alloys?

LOL Gaz, not saying don't get them but for me, I just can't get past anthracite RS4s, I love them - except for the cleaning!! Would like a set of 21s on the SQ as well.

    Thoughts on these alloys?

Not my cup of tea TBH but at that price, with brand new tyres, they're worth a go. If you change your mind after a few 1000 miles you'll still get your money back.
