This has helped me out. Yesterday I was trying to clean mine and thought that the coolant part of the egr was the actual egr valv. I failed to take it off as you need 10mm spline socket to remove that, looks like that was wrong anyway. I'll look around the otherwise of the engine and try again...
Excuse me if im wrong but I thought these cars needed recirculation valves, not bov's...!?! I thought on these engines bov's did more harm than good.. If I am right just get a recirculation valve and a cone filter and it will whoosh all day long. This is what we done on my mates a3 quattro 1.8t
