Jeez :(
I can't believe they haven't been pulled up by the vehicle standards people on this as it's such a known fault, and forced to do a recall or fix affected cars for free like they were with the injector issue on the 170PD.
A friend of mine has a 55-plate 2.0TDI 140PD which seems to be suffering from the cracked cylinder head problem that's been well documented.
What's the deal with this issue these days? Does he have any recourse against Audi for this problem as it's a known issue? As it stands, he's bought a...
Holy thread resurrection Batman!
Although the horrid weather is coming to an end, the sheer awfulness of my A3 in the snow has once again prompted me to wonder whether it's worth investing in a set of steelies and winter tyres for the next time.
Question I have is what type of 16" steel wheel...
Hi & welcome to the forum.
Can't help you with the lights I'm afraid but you may have more luck posting over in the 8P forum as this is the 8V forum for the new 2012 model A3 :)
There's a lot of confusion about the "regeneration" cycle of the DPF.
The advice about running the car at certain revs/speed for certain periods now and then is to allow the DPF to clear itself out "automatically", by generating the exhaust pressures and temperatures necessary for this process...
Aren't there three different bonnets?
I know the bonnet changed shape from the 8P1 to the 8P2, which is probably what you're referring to when you say "facelift", as that's when it gained the single-piece grille and the leading edge of the bonnet changed shape as a result.
I have the a feeling...
Both old and new versions had two SD card slots, just the new one supports SDHC whereas the original one didn't.
As mentioned above, the new version also supports things like the AMI system (well worth it as far better than SD cards) but the screen alone is worth getting a newer model - the old...
I'd say two things...
1 - If you're after economy, forget the 170PS Quattro. Yes, it may be economical compared to a petrol but, for a diesel, it's far from it.
2 - Be aware there are two completely different 170PS engines, the PD and CR (the latter is superior). I'm not sure exactly when...
I hope you're right but I'm afraid I don't have as much faith in VAG/Audi as you do.
How long did it take them to produce cradles for the iPhone 3GS and then the 4? They weren't exactly ready to go the moment the phones were released.
Still, like I say, I hope you're right and my fears are...
Ok, been doing some more reading.
It appears that the adapter does support analogue audio out. It incorporates a DAC to do this and this is possibly one reason why it's not cheap.
The "iPod out" which Apple mentions isn't supported doesn't refer to this, but rather a protocol which allows a...
Not getting into a debate about phones, let's not go there :)
As for USB, I used to use SD cards before I had AMI but the problem was you just end up browsing the folder structure on the card so can only search your music one way. With the iPod connection you can browse by artist, album, genre...
Hmm, now I'm really confused as I was sure the AMI just used the analogue audio out on the old dock connector but can't see how this would work, yet as mentioned above the picture clearly shows it connected to an Audi AMI system.
Could really do with knowing this as I'm on the brink of ordering...
The new dock connector doesn't support analogue audio out anymore, it's purely digital.
I'm fairly certain that the AMI uses this analogue signal for audio, meaning you won't get any sound with the new devices. Whilst the adapter would allow you to physically connect them to the AMI cable...
Can see this catching some people out but, if you use AMI for music then be aware that the new iPhone 5 and the new iPod Touch won't work with it, even with the dock adapter.
Just a heads up :)
Yep, it was the 2011MY cars where this happened, which will be anything ordered in late 2010 and onward. It was also the same time they introduced Stop/Start.
