Thanks will have it looked at what a pain though just for a dipstick. You'd think if it is a common fault then Audi would advise you to change it at one of the many services it had had .

I'm not using the car until I get new dipstick so it should be ok . I have cleaned the dipstick of debris and the o ring is still there it felt like a good tight seal when I pushed it back in .

Thanks again I think I'll do it again to be on the safe side .

Thanks for your replies I have ordered a new dipstick with the yellow plastic. The o ring is still there but where it seats has gone . I have got quite a few pieces of the plastic so maybe it's not gone into sump.If it has gone in sump would it be worth a oil change ? Only been done recently at...

Hi has anyone removed the dipstick for the engine oil and the dipstick has had orange plastic stuck to it ? Just removed mine to check oil and it looks like part of the dipstick has disintegrated, is it a common fault and does it have any consequences ?

Thanks for reply SootySport.He offered to pay as he was quite upset but he only passed his driving test this week and is waiting to get his own vehicle on the road next week. It would be a bit harsh to take any money off him. Had a look on Ebay but the wheels I have seen look as bad as mine.

Thanks for the replies I will get it checked out this week . I have read the clutches on these cars are not the best my car has just turned 53000 miles so is that a good life for it ?

Alex can you answer me a question ? My S3 at times seems to rev up from 3000 rpm to about 5000 rom then drops back but there seems to be no power when it does this. I thought clutch but would this be quite a regular occurrence if the clutch was on it's way out ? Is there any other part on the...

Not much incentive to buy a new car then.

Mines stage 1 unicorn motor developments 318 bhp 347 Ft.lbs and I think mines quick.I made a mistake buying a manual or I would have gone stage 2+ straight away as I don't really want to spend on a clutch so I think stage 1 is my limit on this car anyway.

I have been born and become a grandad in the time this build has been going. Looks like it will be a serious piece of kit though.I wish I could do this and write such a good thread. The best thread on here by far.
