It was introduced in autumn 2008. I got mine delivered early Dec that year and it was one of the first orders in UK.
Love the S3/DSG/Mag Ride suspension combo.....
Audi will say that anything up to about 1L oil per 1000 miles is OK.
My 2.0 TFSI and now my S3 use hardly any (1L per 10 000 miles). I put it down to giving the engine a proper run-in to bed the oil rings...i.e. really loading the engine from low revs in 3rd gear when very new.
If you are...
Mine has just had a software upgrade from Audi. It seemed fine before with no jerking problems. Only improvement I have noticed is that it now doesn't change up to 6th gear in town traffic at 30mph. Seems to wait until about 40mph. It is very smooth all the time, quick power at take-off -...
I stick the filler cap into the handle of the fuel filler to keep the trigger in the on position without having to hold it.
There is a small catch on the trigger that is meant to do this, but it is disabled in UK for some reason...but they work at german fuel stations.
You need to really load the engine in the first few miles of running-in to bed the piston oil rings. If you don't, they never seal properly as the bores get glazed. Warm engine, 3rd gear at 10mph then foot down to around 4000rpm. Only a short burst though and repeat several times.
Did this...
i live in N Germany and have great fun with both my Audis on the Autobahn. Sadly, I miss the gently winding country roads of S England where the S3 really excels, but it is nice to be able to open up the throttle without worrying about Mr Plod.
I don't think that the service costs for cambelt change would be different. It is essentially the same engine in a 2.0 TFSi and an S3.
having moved from a 2.0 TFSi quattro to an S3 last Dec, the S3 is much more fun.
I have a FWD TTR 180BHP and a facelift S3 with the 4gen Haldex.
No doubt at all for me - the quattro is essential. I can often provoke a wheel spin in the TT and the handling at speed on curves is way behind the S3.
Hamburg to Salisbury (Wilts, not Rhodesia) via the tunnel last week. Very comfortable overall - much better than it would have been in my Opel company car. And averaged 31.4 mpg!
Got my S3 DSG Sportback in Dec...it is the 6 speed box. Audi made an error on one of their press releases which stated that it was the 7 speed version....
Hamburg? Interesting, the Polizei here were recently reported to have caught the Latvian/Lithuanian gang that was doing these units.....
Did you get the original code card with it?
At my dealer in Germany, when you take a car in for service, the service manager comes out with an inspection form and goes round the car with you to note any damage... on collection he shows you over the car with the work check list before inviting you to pay...proper customer service.
