Don't use cardboard to block the grille off, if (when) it gets wet it will turn to mush and Block the cooling fins on the radiator. Try and get a piece of plastic. I know this from personnel experience, took ages to get rid of the mush from the rad.

I have an aftermarket lead plugged in mine and it is most probably different but try selecting CD1 on the stereo.
Mine is CDC1 for individual tracks or albums or CDC4 for playing playlists.

The suspension will settle far less than the initial drop so not much point in waiting for it to settle.
