Sold the a4 can this weekend and will be selling the subwoofer installation in the classifieds shortly. If anyone is interested PM me, will be collection only due to size and weight!
The replacement is part of a component 6x9 set, however the original was a 'subwoofer' as classed by the manufacturer. They were beefy for 6x9s and small for a sub, so I guess you could argue either way. It takes the strain off the door speakers in my cab though so it does the job and allows the...
Replaced the subwoofer today, after being repaired once and broken beyond reasonable repair by some passengers (kids) at the weekend, it was time to replace it. The marine version is discontinued so I ordered a pair of the standard black 6x9s instead. As they are the only square 6x9's on the...
The trouble is fitting a 'normal' sub into the space available and also not losing most of the sound when the roof is off...
If you don't have drawers under your seats you could look into under-seat subs, although I've never heard one in person. I used a hi-lo converter as my HU has no...
Apologies for the delayed reply, haven't checked this thread for a while! I never did find out for definate what size the speakers are. I had one of the rear quarters off when installing my smarttop controller, but stupidly I didn't measure the speakers whilst I was there.
The rear speakers are...
If your C6 is anything like my B7 then you can either use a hi-lo converter (tapping into the speaker wires) to convert to an RCA, or the rear channels may already be pre-outs (to the rear amp) and just need tapping into and converting to RCA connectors. Hi-Lo converter is the most fail-safe...
Would've been easier/neater if I could've done that but the extra panels in the boot due to the soft-top meant I couldnt get at the amp... not with the amount of time/effort I was prepared to put it!
Was there a remote turn-on output from the stock amp which you used??
I used a Hi-Low converter and tapped into the speaker wires behind the headunit. I know there is a rear amp for the 5.0 (mine is non-bose) and I think there is a x2 20w amp in the HU itself. Haven't had any probs with my converter so far and it does the trick...
Nicely done!
Did you put an MDF backing against the bulkhead for the amp or just attach it straigh on? I couldn't get at my amp when I fitted mine, apparently it's really inaccessible in a cab due to the movable roof compartment. Ended up putting the Hi-Low converter behing the HU and running a...
Budget installs are all about getting the job done for the best price. It'll definately add the lacking low end!
With a bit of luck the end of the tube without the sub in might be the right size to mount the amp on it, saving you a bix moe space and keeping it out of the way.
Looking forward...
Or he could want an adaptor to tap off the outputs from the amp rather than using a hi-lo converter from the full range speaker wires... clarification is definately needed.
For £90 with everything you need to wire it up that's not too bad. Had a budget JBL sub in the past, it did the job to be fair. But for £90 including an amp and wiring kit I wouldn't expect anything in the way of SQ. Also, the amp seems a bit underpowered for the sub... if the sub's power...
Right, well overdue on an update on this... but the good news is the subwoofer install is finished and working excellently :)
Box:
The original concept as above was changed slightly when I found that the height of the lip between the boot and the ski-pass hole was slightly less than the...
On the way back from AITP today I stopped at services, and when I came back to the car the CD player refused to output any sound. Its a 2007 A4 Cabriolet, non-bose with the Audi Navigation 5.0 Headunit.
The volume control does nothing, and turning all the way down does not enable the mute...
Does anyone know if the stock Audi rear amp has a normal +12v ignition switched feed I can tap to turn on my amp with the ignition?? Or is it all coded using the VAGCOM system like the headunit??
Nice job! Have you done much fiberglass work before? I'm weary of using it to be honest, even though I've heard it's simple if you take your time and do it right.
The sub I have from a previous car is a 12", so I don't think I'd be able to get the enclosure size required (and possibly the...
Still no further with speaker sizes. Until I physically hold it in my hand, I don't think I will know for sure. I'm hoping for 8" (20cm) in the front and 5 1/4" (13cm) in the rear.
Thanks to Gaz RE the front door panels, I'll whip one off when I get a free day and some consistent good weather...
Been searching the web for several weeks now and I wanted to ask if there's anyone who's fitted an aftermarket double-din headunit to their A4 (not RNS-E) and what they though of it?
90% of people seems to say "Get the RNS-E!", but it's £650, it doesn't have bluetooth and all the extra...
