    VCDS Parking visual

Why not go the full hog and install a reversing camera? I never really took much notice of them and relied on the beep. But over time, I use it more and more and use it now more than the beep... A must have for me is 'hill hold' or brake assist.

Ross Tech rules for limited VCDS cable usage

Not yet! But thanks for reminding me! I held off as they told me it was not yet fully compatible with Apple for its full use (but not to worry, as it will be soon and probably will be the same unit) - it was the probably that put me off. I was going to wait until they said all was fully...

Ross Tech rules for limited VCDS cable usage

Thanks, I did ask the supplier shortly after and should have come back to close the question. I have used two lives, and have two new cars, so it is £169 for another ten numbers, but I think - for the limited use I have - that I will sell it and have ordered an OBD11. I will see how it performs...

Ross Tech rules for limited VCDS cable usage

Can anyone help - how can I find how many VINs are left on a V2 Home version?

Retrofitting Adaptive Cruise Control to 8V RS3

Project idea now cancelled! I suggest that anyone wishing to do this and stumbles across this thread, read very carefully in between the lines of the kits being sold as aftermarket fitments and promising to do the job. Dig into the internet and the few people who have taken this on have ended...

Retrofitting Adaptive Cruise Control to 8V RS3

Thanks - that's great! So, to be sure, under the 'Controller info' the part number of the gateway that Kafutec are looking for is the VAG number (in my case it is 5Q0 907 530) and the 'Component' (in my case GW MQB High 128 1244)? As for the instrument cluster - might this be under 17 -...

Retrofitting Adaptive Cruise Control to 8V RS3

I am now planning to keep this car until its four year warranty expires in May 2020. In which case I shall, if possible, fit ACC. This is meant to be a simple procedure providing the car is fitted with the right instrument cluster and CAN gateway. (Kufatec tell me this anyway... apparantly it...

    VCDS Supplier

You guys crease me! what is all this PMing secrecy? Why do you not go to the UK horse's mouth - Ilexa? Derek will have one out to you by return! www.ilexa.co.uk -And again, if you want to 'use it for ever and ever', I'd advise against the CAN version.

049682 - Steering Wheel Control Module

I am new to Audi electronics and even newer to VCDS, so might not be much help - but with Mercedes there were no end of problems with steering column modules. The problem with the MB ones was that they had to be re-programmed each time various new components elsewhere were fitted eg, radio...

    US or UK

It is also touch and go whether they charge duty. I used to play around with US cars and I would nevr know from one part to the next if duty was going to be charged. I once had to buy two camshafts and a cylinder head for a Cadillac, factored in the normal duty applicable, and bingo - parcel...

    US or UK

Maybe if you wait a short while after the world will be beating a path to your door as promised by the lard chap, you will have tariff free trade with the US, and can get it for $200. Oh dear, I forgot though for this privilege you voted to reduce the £-$ 20%, so guess you are stuck with the...

If you are thinking of buying a VCDS cable...

Yep, I'd go for it. Maybe even call Ross-Tech in the States for their take. In my case, they went to pains to say that They, Ross-Tech, take pride in their product and would have thought that any agent/reseller would follow suit and advise customers - and in your case, advise them to wait a bit...

If you are thinking of buying a VCDS cable...

Ah, now, this is the trap I fell into - being told the same. When did Marshalls say this? It was known way way back in 2015 and maybe before that the HEX-CAN was coming to an end. Ross-tech communicated this several times to their agents. The question maybe is: Did their agents pass the info on...

If you are thinking of buying a VCDS cable...

No - anything with CAN in it applies. Going forward it is necessary to use the V2 unless you will never use it on a 2016+ car. I omitted to say that the HEX-CAN will still get full support if regeistered and used on a <2016 car.

If you are thinking of buying a VCDS cable...

Do not fall into the trap that I did - go onto the Ross-Tech website and look at the information regarding the HEX-CAN and HEX-V2. The HEX-CAN has been replaced with the HEX-V2. The HEX-CAN will not work on some models (see their website) and Ross-Tech advise that the HEX-CAN should not be used...

    VCDS Supplier

I note that some are asking for the HEX-CAN VCDS above. Note that this is now discontinued and no longer supported by Ross Tech if used on a >2016 car. I had the misfortune to be sold a HEX-CAN quite recently, after the discontinuation by a 'reseller' who was not very pleasant in...

No response from init controller (53 - Parking brake)

Is it me, but I cannot find a search button in this chat room? I am sure this has been asked before, so apologies. I have just downloaded the latest release from Ross Tech without any issues. However, connecting it all up and wanting to service my rear brakes, a message is returned 'no...
