A lot of people use 2 stroke in diesels, it helps with upper cylinder lubrication. It doesn't have to be anything special, after all, any 2 stroke you add is a bonus compared to just using the normal oil. You do need to be a bit careful with DPF equipped cars though. A drop of this helps out...

Quantum is not relabelled Edge. Quantum is apparantly made by Castrol, but it is not the same as Edge, it's a more basic oil, made to meet the VW specs rather than to meet an array of specs like the Edge does. That means that in certain areas, the Edge exceeds the minimum required to meet the VW...

The 1.9 diesel engine you have is called a PD enigne (pompe deuse). Now these engines do require a specific spec known as VW505.01 for fixed service interval or VW507.00 for longlife servicing. Do you know if yours is on fixed service or longlife service? Cheers Guy
